Has the Wilderness Lodge ever gone through a rehab/update?

We are trying to decide on a hotel for June. We are going in June and again in July. We want to stay at the Poly, but the 100.00 off with AP gives a better deal at WL in June and we are hoping the July AP rates will be better at the Poly.

I am very picky when it comes to worn down rooms, stained carpets, mold, rust etc..... Any of these problems at WL??

Does anyone know if you can get an AP rate at Saratoga Springs and what do think about that resort compared to WL??

I'm rather picky also. Dh and I stayed there in 2000 and again in 2003. We loved it both times and didn't have any complaints about that. Maybe someone who's stayed there more recently will know better.

WL is our favorite resort. We've never had any problems with any of the things you described. The only room we've ever had mold in was CBR. We stayed at the WL in Dec. 2004 and are headed back in May.

Let me re-phrase that then. I didn't notice any mold on our last visit, but the room and especially the bathroom was showing some wear and tear. It was not dirty, just overused if ya know what I mean. In need of a rehab.

This is my opinion too. I love WL and will be staying there again in June. Our last visit was August 04 and the resort was great. The only disappointment was the bathroom was in need of some updates. The border near the ceiling was peeling off and it could use some upgrades. Some of the tables had knicks in them from obvious use by many people. Obviously, I didn't see anything to turn me away, but it could use a little touch up.

There were working on an area of the bottom floor when we were there. They had the signs up saying "excuse our mess", but we didn't see or hear any work going on. I believe it was a bathroom/changing area for the pool.

We stayed at WL in October 04, I thought it was fine, and I too am picky. It certainly didn't look "new," but everything was clean, and nothing was really worn. We had a lake view (what is that body of water called :confused3 ), which was awesome! That's said, you can tell in the halls that it can use a little updating. I love WL, and we will be staying there for the last night of our June trip. The first six days will be spent at VWL.

Have fun!

I stayed at WL for the first time in September 2004. The rooms did show some wear and tear, but nothing that would cause me to suggest that you choose another resort. I plan on returning to WL on our next trip! It is a great resort and it's so close to the magic of MK with a lower price than the monorail resorts.

My first trip to WL was just last week. The only thing that was noticable to me was the wear on the carpet in the hallway, especially where you get on and off the elevator. Having been delighted with the appearance of the lobby, it was somewhat disappointing to find shabby carpet when the door to the elevator first opened on our floor. New carpet would go a long way to making your first impression a better one. Other than that, I didn't see any problems. We were upgraded to a courtyard view and our room was in the center of building, just two doors from the elevator. The view was spectacular! Our view from the hallway was of the lobby - also spectacular.
