We just booked our October trip at Wilderness Lodge. Our only concern was transportation.

How is the boat ride to MK?

How long does it take to get to the other parks by bus?

Thanks

The boatride is about 10 mins, and it is awesome you are going to love your stay at the lodge.

Buses arent too bad as well. I guess each visit it is different depending on crowds and time of the year, we try to go during the off season to avoid crowds so I have never really had a horrible experience on the Bus.

I agree with keith-atl, the boat ride is great... In the morning when everything is fresh, the trip by boat is awesome. The additional transportation isn't that bad either. But like keith-atl said, when it's busy, it can get a little crazy and you could end up waiting for a little bit.

I have had only one problem with the buses but that was with other guest that were there and not the bus service itself. I had been waiting 15 minutes and when the bus pulled up, a bunch of people came out of no where and started pushing me and my party aside to get on the bus... once I said something they all backed off, problem solved.

Have a great trip, you are going to love the Wilderness Lodge!

DW and I both liked the boat ride to the MK... we found it very convenient and prompt. As for transport to other parks, we normally used our rental car. Disney Transport is great in a pinch, but we would prefer not to rely on it.

The Lodge is well worth the stay. We stayed there once and we're going back. What a wonderful place!

Sometimes it seems like the boats run late. You may wait a while (10-15 minutes), but it is a very nice ride once you're on the boat. Also, WL shares boats with FW, so depending on which way the boats are running, it may add a few more minutes if you stop at FW. Also, there's always the option if you just miss the MK boat to take the CR boat then walk to MK from there.

We love WL. Don't let the transportation issues concern you. Every resort has transportation issues. Also, at the end of the night if you stay for fireworks either get right to the dock ASAP or take your sweet time to let the crowd thin. We never waited more than two boats. Remember, the only resort that will give you a guaranteed "no wait" return from MK after fireworks is the CR because you can walk.

I loved WL and enjoyed letting Disney transport take me all over the place. We especially loved the boat to CR and MK. If there isn't a boat waiting, you will wait a little, but you can see the boats out on Bay Lake. One has a blue flag, the other has a green flag. You know they will be there soon.

The buses were fine. We only used our rental car when we went to DTD so we had somewhere to put the packages. We also used it to tour some of the other resorts.

I've heard that to get to Epcot, it's quicker to take the boat to the CR, then get on the monorail than it is to take the WL bus to Epcot directly.

True?

We have stayed at WL many times and have found the transportation to be fine. Until 3:00 pm the MK boat goes from FW to WL to MK and after 3:00 pm it goes from WL to FW to MK.

I really don't see how the boat to CR, then monorail to TTC and then monorail to Epcot could be close to as fast as the bus to Epcot. The Epcot bus may stop at FW(I forget), but that isn't much out of the way. The bus from WL to TTC and then the monorail to Epcot would be better than the boat to CR.

Actually take the bus to the transportation center then take the monorail, we learned that the last time we were there and that bus is always empty.

We found in January that if we were taking a bus to a theme park, we always went from WL to the GF first, and then onto the theme park. As for the monorail to Epcot idea, you could do whichever boat came first ... CR boat then take resort monorail to TTC, or MK boat and express TTC monorail. It would make an enjoyable journey to get there!

Loved the boat ride from WL to MK!

I was just there last week. The boat ride to MK is about ten minutes. The only problem we encountered was the boat was almost always full, because it was picking up at Fort Wilderness first. I have to say this was my first time staying at a Disney Deluxe and I was not very impressed with the transportation. I feel if I am paying this much for a room, I should not have to share a bus with another resort. WL shares a bus with GF at AK. I especially would not want to share a bus with another resort if I were paying those rates. We had our car this time and we definitely did use it. We found it to be much less of a hassle. We were tired of standing on the busses. The drivers do not care how they drive and my mom's back was out, so for us, the busses did not work out.

The boat ride to MK adds to the experience of staying at Disney.

I hate taking the buses, that is why we like having a car with us. Our last trip we drove our car to dinner at WL and left it there to take the boat to MK after dinner. A wonderful and relaxing cruise.

For AK, Epcot and D Studios we drove our car to avoid bus hassles.

we 've stayed at the WL several times . I have always enjoyed the boat ride to MK. we have only had a problem this last time. One morning we were fogged in and had to take the bus to MK :sad1: And if you go to blizzard beach or winter summerland golf be careful not to stay too late..they tend not to check there, we waited for40+ minutes in the dark and cold. :rolleyes1 finally the wilderness fort campground bus suggested we go with them and try to find a bus over . which we did but it was 2 more bus rides.. what an adventure
