My DH and I were discussing hotels we would like to stay at and the discussion turned to the Wilderness Lodge. I told him that I often see that people choose this as their favorite hotel but when he asked me why I could not answer. Soo those of you who keep returing to stay at the Wilderness Lodge please tell me why? Thanks

I guess for us, the following reasons are key:

1. Theme - The 19th century NW United States theme is a favorite of ours. We actually stayed at Glacier Park Lodge this summer and it was amazing how similar the two resorts are in theme (WL is much nicer, however  ) Disney really did a great job with this resort.

2. Pool - We've always enjoyed this pool most of all. I'm not sure if we just hit it at convenient times or what, but it always seems like there is plenty of room.

3. Location - It is nice to be somewhat secluded from the parks...when we've stayed at some of the other resorts, we've often felt like we went from a theme park back to a theme park to sleep. Wilderness Lodge is definitely not like that at all.

4. Design - The design of the lodge makes it easy to get anywhere in the lodge. Some of the other resorts are very spread out. It is great to be able to stay inside to journey to the Roaring Forks to refill your mugs.

5. Transportation - We've always had a great experience with the transportation, and it is nice to be able to take the boat to the MK.

We love WL, and if you stay there, I hope you do too!

I agree with Kuzco 100%!!!

Could not of said it any better.

Housekeeping was good. The CM's were wonderful. There is a walking tour of the resort also. I have heard that is good to do.

Wonderful stay and we plan on going back.

Also agree with Kuzco 100% (expecially point number 4).

Also, we really enjoy the boat ride to MK. For those traveling with little ones, there isn't anything easier than rolling the stroller onto the boat.

Another echo for Kuzco. Those are most of the reasons we keep staying at WL too. When you come back to your room at the end of a long day at the parks you feel like you can really relax at the lodge. It has a very tranquil feel to it. It's very refreshing. From what I've heard AKL has a similar feel, and I would love to try a stay there too.

We love WL because of the spectacular architecture, proximity to MK and a variety of resort restaurants, and more affordable than a monorail resort.

AKL is very similar and we also loved it, but it was just a bit too remote for us.

I agree with the previous posters - AKL is similar in some respects. We will be staying there again in May. However, I think AKL seems a bit more busy than WL and the transportation is not as handy. But it is amazing to be able to view the animal from your room or around the lodge. If I were forced to choose, I'd go with WL. ;-)

Well Kuzco said it all.

We stayed there in Spetmeber and loved it.

The boat was nice over to MK and then we took the other boat over to GF for the tea and other stuff. I loved the atmosphere and the CM's were great. Tracy from NH checked us in and she was amazing. We had a great room with a poool view. I had a great rate from a postcard. The Whispering Canynon and Artist POint was so wonderful. We also used room service one night and the pizza was really good

I Think Kuzco says it best. I also would like to add that the convience of everthing can't be beat. My DH is disabled and it is so easy to get around this resort to the pool, the bus stop or to our room, and we don't have to walk 10 acres to get there!!!

I also agree with Kutzo.

I will add one more "point". Our "style" of vacationing is to do the parks in the day, then return to our resort for a swim before dinner. We then like to eat at different resturants that we can EASILY access. We can do this from WL. Besides the 2 great resturants in WL, we can catch the Blue Launch over to CR for Chef Mickeys or Concourse Steakhouse or over to FW for Trails End. We can also catch the TTC bus for a 2 minute ride over to TTC, then walk to the Poly for Kona or Ohanna's.

All I can say is "Welcome Home". I think his name is Bill at the gate-at least last 3 times we were there-every time we drove in it really made me feel like I was home and welcome. Everything else is nice but this is what hooked me and the my DH and the DCherubs!

I stayed at the WL and thought It was beautiful on the eye but badly designed. If you have a child in a stroller then getting from the small car park you have to go on the road for check-in against the traffic. The resort seems to have been squashed into a small area, I saw people getting lost in the hotel and getting confused at the 2nd floor being the lobby. The slide on the pool is basic when compared to the other resorts, the rooms seem to be the same size as the value resorts and the 'food court' is the worst of them all.

I prefer the Polynesian and comparing the WL with It then It only seems a high end moderate.

No disrespect to you Chester Copperpot but I think you posted on the wrong thread by accident. Either that or maybe you read the OP's post incorrectly. I think she was looking for all the reasons people love to stay at the beautiful WL.

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge in 2001, and we are returning this fall! :Pinkbounc

I just could not bring myself to choose another resort, though the only other place I have stayed onsite was the Contemporary. WL is just beautiful. The architecture is truly gorgeous, and when we were at the resort we really felt relaxed and away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. I cannot wait to return!

We stayed at the WL for the first time in Dec. and are returning in May. I agree with all of the previous posts completely. We have stayed at ASMo, Pop,and CBR, and the WL was truly the most relaxed laid back resort I have ever experienced. The trip in Dec. was the only time I have EVER said, "Let's just go back and hang out at the resort." :earseek:

DH and I love this resort.

WL has:
Great Themes
Restaurants
Mousekeeping Service
CM's Friendly
Atmosphere

You will not regret staying at WL. I can't wait to return.

I concur with everyone, especially Kuzco and Donald Duck! We LOVE the WL. We have excellent stays there for several years. And if we're not staying there we ALWAYS so there just to walk around, talk to the CM's who remember us (there's one we still e-mail with since summer 2002!), and hear that magnificent music as you walk in.

We live right by the beach, so this theming is very appealling to us. It feels so warm and cozy and homey. We love Whipsering Canyon and the sweets at Roaring Forks.

We really prefer staying in a place that is all in one building, as opposed to the moderates that are spread out. We drive, so don't know about the transporation, except that my 2 oldest would often go back to the parks at night or in the morning before us and loved riding the boat.

We were thrilled to get what we thought was a great rate for Easter week.... I think it's $159 for a woods view. We have gotten upgraded (for small fee) twice now to concierge, which we LOVE, and always politely ask when we check in, but so far, no more luck.

You'll love it!
