Only ridiculous if it's not happening for a reason. I've stayed in a few hotels where the alarm has gone off in the middle of the night. If safety dictates we evacuate, I'll take the inconvenience.

It’s ridiculous that Disney does not communicate with the guests. No instructions, nothing. There is a malfunction but guests are not told anything. I checked out and found a new hotel.
If you want to stay at a hotel where the alarm goes off in the middle of the night 2 out of 3 nights go for it.

If you weren't told anything, how do you know it was a malfunction? I would agree that a subsequent letter after the issue, explaining any details pertinent to the guests, would be appreciated.
What type of instruction, other than evacuate the building when you hear the alarm, were you expecting?

I have experienced this when the Grand Californian first opened .
The alarm is triggered and then the emergency laser beams inside the room were activated. . Then there was a castmember walking up and down the hallway to alert guests … and probably making sure rooms were evacuated .
When I walked out of my room , I was confused because the heavy doors that automatically close at one end of the hallway were already closed . They are hidden in the doorframe and Close off . You have probably walked past these doors many times without being aware they are there. The signs along the hallway and emergency procedure is my responsibility to read when I am staying at any hotel . Always be aware of your emergency exit for your own safety. It can be very scary . I had a severe migraine the entire day at Disneyland . But I was alive.
Disney did not offer any explanation . They did their job keeping guests safe.
I think I did receive a $50 gift certificate afterwards.
I recall hearing that dust from construction was causing the automatic alarm system to activate.
