Wilderness Lodge with 2 Young boys

We are heading to the WL with our young 2 young DS (6 and 3) May 2-9th. What are some things to see or do that should not be missed? Has anyone done the character meal at Ft Wilderness?

Any help would be appreciated!

We've stayed at the Wilderness Lodge 3 times. We spend so much time in the park that we hardly take advantage of what is offered at the resort. My kids do love the pool with the water slides and we all love the boat rides to and from the Magic Kingdom. Make sure you catch the night time electric light show on the lake. You can see it really well from the dock.

We too are staying at the WL (ds 7 & 3)- the one thing that I have been told is to request to be the flag family. They pick a family each day to raise the flag every morning.

We've stayed at WL when the children were 3 and nearly 2. It was ok, but we could have stayed in a Value. The boat ride with a stroller ...you have to wait for the big one or you have to fold up the whole stroller, etc (which is a major pain). The pool was nice enough, but my son got sick the second day and we weren't able to really enjoy it. There's Whispering CAnyon which is fun for 1 meal. Go early for breakfast if you want to eat at the CS place or it can be quite crowded.

I don't mean that it was terrible...but we've stayed at Value resorts since.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Villas last June and absolutely LOVED it!! My kids are a bit older at 9 & 14 now, but they still enjoyed it. Your kids will probably love the rabbits that you see all over the place! (Especially over by the pool) We also liked the little touches like the animal "prints" in the walkway. The geyser is also a lot of fun and your young ones will probably like walking on the walkway to the boat landing.

Take time to enjoy all the small things and the details at the lodge as it really is a beautiful place!

We camp at Fort Wilderness a lot and take the boat over to WL for lunch and sometimes dinner. If you time a boat ride over to FW just right at night, sometimes you can be out on the water when the MK fireworks are going off. That was impressive for my son. It's a new vantage point.

And we had a great time! Yes, the boat was a little difficult to get on and off with a stroller, but in comparison to doing the same with a bus, its peanuts!! Its the great accomodations of a Deluxe but a little less $$...

The atmosphre is great! The pool and waterslide is to die for!! My kid were 5, 7 and 1 1/2 when we went in 4/08. DS8 and I spent one evening just walking around and exploring the resort - especially the main building - so spectacular! Disney went into so much details, you see soemthing new everytime you look... Whispering Canyon is out of this world! So fun and soemthing we have to do everytime we visit WDW! Its a must for our family! The food court is great and the poolside bar is great too!

My ONLY complaint was that our room was a little noisey! We were on the 4th floor - over Whispering Canyon. While wecould see Wishes from our balcony, the noise in the early evening right up until about 11PM was a little louder than I would have liked. I think it bothered me more than the rest of my family. A couple floors higher and it would have been fine - just some food for thought!!

We didnt do the character meal at FW this time, but I have done it as a kid myself... it was great - had a Davey Crocket, frontieer kind of feel. The Hoop Dee Doo Review was also excellent! Not sure if a 2 YO would appreciate it, but we will def be going next time we are there, one will be 3.5+ as the youngest... Good luck and whatever you do - I hope its magical!!
