Do you get same atmosphere/experience at the WLVs as you do at the the WL?

On our last trip (2000), we had dinner at WL and decided it was where we wanted to stay on our next trip. This time we will be visiting with a 2 year old and like the idea of a WLV 1 bedroom.

Can anyone tell me if the experience of staying at a WLV is the same (better/worse) as staying at WL? We've researched the difference in the room layouts but can't find a WLV map. Consequently, we don't know if its feasible to use the WL pools, restaurants and other amenities or if you would even want to.

Also, transporation to and from WL was slow on our last trip. Has this been fixed? Does the WLV have separate stops or does it share the WL's.

Thanks

The Villas at Wilderness Lodge are right next to the Main Lodge so the use of all the amenities are available for both resorts. I feel the experience of staying at a WLV is the same as the Lodge better because of the wonderful Villa.

I have never had a problem with any of the transportation at WL or WLV both share the same transportation services.

I didn't do one thing but I will now...

WELCOME to the DIS.

magic, please help me decide where to stay. I had asked if I should request a certain 2 bdr villa on the dvc board and found out that basically all of the views are of woods but do any have even a narrow view of the lake or pool? or should I just get 2 courtyard view rooms at WL?

Just request a water or pool view at VWL. There aren't many of them, but you may get one. The VWL is the smallest DVC resort, so it tends to get booked early by members.

I would never request a specific room. I'd go with the view and hope for the best. If that room that you want is occupied, you won't have any requests at all.

if you must have a view of the lake - then definitely go with the courtyard at WL - but kept in mind what you are giving up at VWL - the kitchen, livingroom, whirlpool tub in your room (plus of course the washer/dryer).

you have decide which is worth it for you.

We stayed at the VWL and loved it. The convienance of having a full kitchen and washer/dryer can't be beat. Plus the whirlpool tub and HUGE shower have us spoiled. All the amenities were close and you are right near the bus stop. Enjoy your stay.

I'd go with VWL if you can get it (if members haven't booked it up). It's a short covered walkway from the main lodge. The villas have a great lobby in their own right. A couple of Walt Disney's train cars that he used to ride in his back yard are on loan from the Disney family and under glass on display at the villas. Also, there are lots of pictures of Walt and his beloved trains over at the villas. Here's a website that has a picture tour of the villas:

Click on tagrel's one bedroom tour of the VWL. It's a great site!

Good luck.

Hi, most of the views at The Villas at Wilderness Lodge are woods view but we love them, it is so nice to remove yourself from all the stimuli of the parks. I usually make only one request near the elevator, you may as the other posters have said also request view of the pool, while the other DVC properties have several views to choose from and pay more, for the VWL are all very much the same.

For room lay-out check out the link I provided on my earlier post.
While I also enjoy an Inner-Courtyard View over at the Lodge between staying at the Villas with my woods view or in two rooms at the Lodge...I would pick the Villas every time.

Hope you have a great stay.
