Wilderness Lodge vs. Animal Kingdom

We've done both, AKL once (never to return to) and WL, over 10 stays...need I say more..!

AKL, location too remote, too spread out, animals lacking from our Savannah room, food not to our liking!

WL, ideal location, on the lakes, boat to MK, CR and FW, under one room and compact.... Good food too

I love both these resorts equally so in this case I would go with whatever is cheapest. I could probably also talk myself into a split stay for those two resorts

We just did a split stay last November. First at WL and then to AKL. We've stayed at WL before and really like it: atmosphere and location. Love the boat ride to MK.

But after staying at AKL, that's where we will stay next time. better food, love watching the animals, grat pool, and we just like it better overall. The only downside is driving to MK but we always rent a car and it's only one more driving day instead of the boat.

I had read quite a bit before staying at AKL (we were at Kidani) that it is far from everything and away from the action. We didn't think that would matter to us, but it did! We missed simply hearing the fireworks or watching the Electric Water Pageant from the beach. Once we went back o the resort for the evening, it wasn't easy to head back out for something, as transit takes a bit longer. We also missed the morning boat to MK (or the super-speedy bus) from WL.

That said, we felt like we could stay at AKL for a week and not get bored. So many cultural activities, animal viewing, s'mores roasting, movies, pool parties. I know other resorts have many of those activities, but we found the cultural activities to be priceless. Our kids made friends from all over Africa and learned a LOT.

Still, we're headed back to WL (VWL) for Christmas time and I cannot wait It will be a lot easier for us to be flexible and split up as a group (so if one person needs to stay in for the night with sleeping kids, the rest of the group can do any number of things in the MK/MK resort area.

We've stayed at both and much preferred AKL. We would stay there again over WL in a heartbeat.

My only regret is that we didn't plan more resort time into our AKL stay.

After looking at all of the responses and talking to a friend, who has been and stayed at AK a half a dozen times, we are going to stay at WL. Thanks for all of the responses. I can't wait to go back. 14 months and 3 days until we leave. Seems like forever, but it will be here soon.

I like both but would give an edge to AKL. We like watching the animals around the resort, even without a SV. If you cant decide, go for a split stay. Make everyone happy.

We couldn't decide either; my boyfriend wanted AKL, I wanted WL. So we split our stay.....4 nights at the AKL (2nd floor Arusha view Zebra Trail) and 4 nights at the WL (5th floor Courtyard view). IT WAS PERFECT!!!!!!
