Just wondering if anyone can tell me which place would be best to stay at....we are travelling as a group of 5 adults and 2 children, one is an infant. Which is better???

Thanks!

Anyone? Advice would be great!

Actually, you cannot go wrong with either one! Both resorts are stunning in their own way, and it really depends on your decor preference. Wilderness Lodge is styled after the great national parks in the Pacific Northwest, and OKW is more of the tropical flair. Both are beautiful and have great accomodations.

A word of advice, though. I read you are traveling with an infant. . . both WL and OKW have pack and plays that they call cribs. If you need a full crib like at home, we always use A Baby's Best Friend www.abbf.com or www.ababysbestfriend.com in Orlando. They have the best, cleanest baby needs in the area, and their service is great! You will have a must nicer stay!

Hope this helps!

SIZE: One consideration I will tell you is that the OKW 2 BDRM villas are BIGGER than VWL. You also get a VERY nice Large patio or balcony outside the main living area, and a smaller one outside the studio bedroom. The Master Bedroom also has french doors onto the main patio. The kitchen area is open to the living room and dining area. The master bathroom is HUGE and so is the laundry room. (I am assuming of course that all 7 people would be sharing accomodations....LOL!) The 2 BDRM is worth it to me because of the laundry room and kitchen, not to mention the jacuzzi in the master bath! Luxury all the way!

VIEWS: OKW has a laid-back country club feel to it, as your view could be either that of the canal (water view) or part of the Golf course. Most of the views for the VWL are of the woods. Some of the villas close to the lodge have a courtyard type view.

NOISE: You will definitely want to consider how "quiet" you wish your accomodations to be since the OKW villas on the bus line seem to be rather noisy... I could hear the buses go by every night until they stopped at 2 AM. On another occasion, I asked to be in Bldg 18 and I NEVER heard a single bus! I do not think you will have a noise problem with VWL either.

MAIN POOL: OKW main pool does NOT have a slide (if that is important to you... they are planning on adding one sometime in the future). But it does have a cool sauna in the "lighthouse" and it also has sandy areas around the pool for building sandcastles and a water spray area for little ones to run around by the baby pool with water squirting up around them! They also have a nice hot tub. VWL pool has a slide and hot tub and is surrounded by trees for a very outdoorsy, woodland feel to it. The view of the lodge and the rock formation waterfall are quite stunning.

TRANSPORTATION: OKW has bus transportation to everything. There is also a boat that will take you to DTD, but it was a pontoon size boat last time we were there. (Max guests= 12). VWL has bus transportation to everywhere and boat transportation to the MK and FW, as well as the CR.

So what do you think? More than you wanted to know?:hyper:

N&B'smom,

OKW or VWL 2 BR units are really nice! I don't know if you will have a car, but OKW has parking right in front of your villa. (My DH loved that convenience :) ). One other thing about 2BRs at OKW, they will have 2 Queen beds in the 2nd BR. OKW Villas are very nice and very spacious (you get the most sq feet in an OKW villa). We loved our stay there. If you don't drive your own car, Disney Transportation is via Bus.
If you have little ones, I would expect several trips over to the MK during your visit. VWL is a MK resort. VWL has a convenient boat launch over to the MK as well as a boat launch over to Ft. Wilderness and the Contemporary. Also, Wilderness Lodge has the Electric Water Pagent out on Bay Lake every night--kids really love to watch that.

It's a tough decision. You won't go wrong with either choice.

Thank you all SOOOO much for the information! I truly appreciate it! I don't know if you've all made it even harder now though! lol They both sound so good! I'll have to dig around a little more and then just make a decision!

Also, thank you for the tip about the crib! That was a fabulous tip! My daughter will be 13 months and a pack-n-play would NOT cut it! Plus, I can get a great stroller from them as well!!! THANK YOU !!!

After all this great info., I'm thinking of staying at the VWL. Is it best to book through Disney or the DVC. I've never booked through the DVC. Do you save a lot and is it complicated? Thanks.::MinnieMo

You can try the DVC rent/trade board and rent the pts from a DVC member. The average price is $10 pt for renting.
For example ...........

if you need a 1BR for 6 nights at the VWL it would cost you 270 pts for the 6 nights, which would cost you $2,700 if you rented from a DVC member. But don't forget you will have washer, dryer, kitchen facilities, jacuzzi, etc. Here is the rent/trade board below.........
