Hi There,
We just came back from a week at the Wilderness Lodge. We had reservations at the Villas but when we arrived we were told they were not available. From what I understand they had a "Pest Problem". They upgraded us to a Junior Suite on the 2nd floor of the Lodge. The Suite was large but very worn and torn. The rug was very frayed and the cushions on the couch in the living area were also torn and frayed. My sister in law was also upgraed to a junior sutie. Her room was also in pretty bad shape. Has anyone else found the rooms at the Lodge not what they expected? I was very surprised that a Deluxe hotel would be in this shape!! It was our first time at a Deluxe hotel. We've always stayed at a moderate. I really wonder if we were just really unlucky with the rooms.

Were you supposed to be in a studio or something else? If a studio you actually probably got a better deal by being upgraded to the suite. But if you were supposed to be in a one or two bedroom they should have moved you to another DVC property. Sorry that it wasn't to your satisfaction. Did you mention it to a manager?

I'd actually like to know more about the "pest problem"...that never sounds good :(

We had a studio reserved. From what I hear the deluxe room is much bigger. I did speak to a manager. She never explained to me what the problem was. She only said they were not available. It was my TA from OLP that found out it was because of a pest problem. I'm sure the deluxe room was larger and more comfortable, I was just real unhappy with the shape of the room.

It's too late to do anything about it now, but for future reference, if you're ever unhappy like that at a resort, tell them you want to be moved.

They should have given you a choice of being moved to another DVC resort into a studio, or to a standard room at one of the deluxes. How disappointing. Also, don't ever feel bad about calling your TA during your vacation if you aren't getting what you paid for. It's their JOB to assure this, it's part of the service they offer, and they should be more than willing to intervene on your behalf and work with the resort to come up with a suitable solution.

A pest problem doesn't make sense. I assume this was a cash rental, I wonder if they just oversold, like the air lines.

I just returned from VWL 2 weeks ago and loved it. No problems at all. I also spoke with many other happy guests. Sorry your expereince wasn't so magical

I guess we'll never know for sure what the "real problem" was with the villas. We will be retuning to Disney in March. This time it will be with the grandkids!! Time to start thinking about which resort to chose again! It won't be the Wilderness Lodge. That's for sure!!!

Maybe they were full and their villa was the unlucky one? Serious spraying? Last year at VB while in 1240 1BDR the Studio(2Bdr) next to us was flooded out. They had to replace the carpeting and more. It was not habitable for at least 3days. Where do people go when VB is full and there is a problem?
Anyone know when the WL Suites were last refurbished? The regular concierge room was just fine this past winter.
