HI,

I just wanted to know what kind of view you all recommend at the Wilderness Lodge. Please tell me what your experiences were like with the view you had.:thumbsup2

We booked a water view. We got a view of the main pool and it was wonderful! We loved sitting on the balcony and people watching. We could see the whole pool and the lake beyond it. It was really a great view and I would love to get it again. We really loved our stay there and will be back in Nov!!

We've had a few different views. Wooded view..which we were't that crazy about...as it was very wooded..and overlooked a small pond area. It was sooo buggy you could not sit out on the balcony.(mosquitos)..you could see the bugs on the glass doors to the balcony. Didn't help that it also smelled of the smoke house. We asked to be moved..and they were very obliging. We had a courtyard view of the main themed pool. That was nice..but I wasn't so crazy about seeing into the rooms across the U shaped resort. Figured..if I could see in those rooms..they probably could see in ours too! After that, we opted for the woods view..but on the side that faces the WL villas. First time..it just overlooked the walking/bike path that lead to FW and the WL bus transportation. This is the side of the resort we like best. Soon afterward they built the WL villas...andt this was still a lovely view. The WL villas are quite nice to look at..and rate was same as a woods view. Our last stay, was our favorite view. It was on the same side of the U shaped resort, looking at the Villa Pool. Same rate as the Courtyard/water view..but Villa Pool instead. This is the view we hope to get again May 19th! I enjoy sitting on the balcony..lovely view of the Villa Pool...but not crazy with people like the Courtyard view can sometimes be. A bit more private..yet with enough to look at..over looks the bike/walking path..and clear view of the Villa Pool area. We were even able to see a bit of the Electric Water Pagent from our balcony. Hope we get it this year. Last visit, we were upgraded to this view, we had a villa/woods view..and they upgraded us to this Villa Pool view. This time when I made our reservation, they only had the Courtyard rate available..and told me this view was the same rate as Courtyard view. Hope we get it..all we can do is ask I guess.;)

We have only stayed in Courtyard Views, and have been VERY happy. We usually request a room with an open balcony. There are rooms on the upper floors that have enclosed balconies, which means you'd have to stand up to enjoy the view. We also request a room that you will be able to see the water parade from. We have stayed in the inner courtyard closer to the waterfall, and also on the part that sticks out closer to the pool. Both views have been great. If you decide on a Courtyard View, I'd also request a room in the main WL courtyard, not looking at the Villas, unless that is what you have in mind.

Being a Alabama girl myself (I noticed your username) , I always like the Courtyard Views b/c I have a Woods View everyday.

Hope this helps!:thumbsup2

We've stayed in every room category and like each room for different reasons

Standard rooms overlook the Utilidy coridor or the bus stop. Little noisy during the afternoon when the trucks come in with the supplies on the utility side but other than that we got a good view of the monorail (in the distance)

Our Woods views have mostly been on the north side overlooking the otter pond and the monorail/castle (in the far distance). It's nice to watch the fireworks on your balconey at night (with partial obstruction by the trees).

Main courtyard view overlooks the pool and the geyser. With this view you can also be assigned a room that overlooks the Villas pool. With this view we could see the boat coming in. Also we saw the geyser going off. This view is really cool because you can see the resort wake up and go to sleep. Its the most active view of the three. When you shut the patio door and pull the curtains though we couldn't hear much.

I've been to WL twice and had two different views....

Woods view last March. It was amazing to see fireworks through the trees on our very first night there. Maybe it was just shocking to me to be *so* close to the MK and being able to see the fireworks was just magical to my family. AND we couldn't see it really well, but we could see the castle. Just knowing it was there, through the trees, was magical to me.

This year we got a courtyard view because we were unable to get a woods view. We were in a room that really only gave us a view of the pool and mid section of the pool, not much of the lake. Having a view of the pool didn't do a whole lot for me, but that's just my preference.

Inner courtyard, here is a view from room 6039:

I have stayed at WL several times. I haven't stayed in a standard room, but have had courtyard and woods view rooms. The woods view room area that I like best is the north wing overlooking the otter pond. You can see wishes through and over the trees. I had room 5034 a couple of years ago. We had a good view of the castle, monorail and MK through the opening in the trees from this room. Most woods view rooms don't have the clear view of the MK.

My favorite courtyard room is room 5077 which is in the "bears face". Your view is toward Bay Lake. Your door opens to the lobby. The only problems could be that the noise from the lobby could bother some people.

Maybe it was just me..but during our trip when we had the Courtyard view of the main courtyard...the guests directly opposite us in the U...had their towels draped over their rails. I thought that was so tacky. It was actually more than one room. Seems kind of petty..but I remembered it just rubbed me the wrong way. I don't know why people would do that. It just kind of spoiked the ambience. I think that was another reason we were so pleased with our view of the Villa Pool. :thumbsup2

ugh!! The dreaded towel hangers!!! It changes the entire ambiance of the resort! Maybe at Ft Wilderness over a line attached to trees.....I did see a few of these while at GF...that just reminded me, and I am requesting inner courtyard views....

Enjoy your trip!

We stayed at the WL in December in a standard room and were very happy. Yes it did overlook the loading area, but we were not in our rooms much during the day, so it didn't bother us. Plus, we could see the top of the castle, the monorail, and best of all we watched the fireworks from our beds every night!!! We did ask for a standard view on the North side. Not sure of the exact room number. Hope this helps!

I've stayed there twice. 1st time-Honeymoon "suite" that faced MK direction. We could see the fireworks over the Castle from our balcony. Very nice.

2nd view-Courtyard view that faced the WLV pool. At first, I was disappointed that it wasn't facing the main pool, but I actually liked this view a lot-it was very peaceful, beautiful, and more "private" than the inner courtyard I think. I could see a little of Bay Lake, lots of woods/trees, bunnies and ducks below, the bike/walking path, and the WLV courtyard/pool area. I could also hear the lodge music very clearly from my balcony-I loved that!:cloud9: I would request to stay in this same area again.

We had an inner courtyard view this past Jan. We thought it was beautiful & loved watching the pool & the water pagent from our room.

I don't know what the view is called because I did not request any particular view. All I requested was non-smoking. It's room 7050. Somehow my camera settings got messed up so the quality isn't great, which was heartbreaking.

We had no problem watching the fireworks from the balcony or inside of the room. They were very clear even though it looks quite far away. The castle was beautiful all night long as it changed colors. The monorail leaving the Contemporary was also visible. We were pleased and pleasantly surprised by the view that we got. It was totally unexpected.

This is now our favorite view. NO towel people to ruin our view of the resort. That just screams tacky to me..and wondered why the resort staff didn't enforce some type of towel hanging policy. I found the Villa pool view to be very peacful, and private, yet enough to look at and do a bit of people watching. Didn't feel as if we were on display. I enjoy spending time on our balcony, and found this side of the resort our favorite view yet. Also..we had two rooms one faced the villa pool..and the other faced the front of the resort looking at Bay Lake. We actually gave the Bay Lake view to my son..and we took the Villa Pool view. As the Bay Lake view had a stone balcony and you couldn't see over it unless you stood up. Don't like having my morning coffee staring at a wall. The Villa Pool view is very pleasant.

Enjoy your trip!

I'm not sure, but likely they don't allow clothes line in FW either. I know that we are seasonal in an upstate NY campground, and they have a policy against no clothes lines..be if for towels or other things that folks seem think it's okay to string outside for the world to see.:scared1: It doesn't exactly scream "nature"..to see someone's towels or wet bathing suits even in a campground.

I've had every view. I definitely did not like the standard view one time..it was the roof top :( Another time I had a standard over the service area, but you could see the fireworks at night. So if you choose standard, ask for a room on the north side of the resort :)

Loved the Courtyard view and loved the Woodsview when we were facing the MK and could see the fireworks at night. (but you have to ask for a higher floor room) Of those two, I would probably choose Courtyard :)
