Thinking about staying close to MK...more specific on the monorail because of the conveinence to the MK. We dont want to rule out the Wilderness Lodge option, but it seems to be just as many bus trips as the Moderates...except to MK. Do you take buses everywhere else?

The boat trip from WL to MK, though not quite as fast as a monorail, beats a bus to a resort as far as I'm concerned.

Just wondering, does any one know the approximate cost to take a taxi from the WL to the various parks?

There's no need for a taxi, buses run to all of the parks from WL.

Thanks Geoff. The reason we were asking was that the transportation schedule that we are looking at, says that it takes 1 to 2 hours to get from AK to MGM. If it takes this long to go from point A to Point B then a taxi might be worth the extra cost.:confused3

Well a taxi is definately an option, but you are comparing park to park transportation which is not direct. There are direct buses to/from every park and DTD to Wilderness Lodge.

From the WL there isn't such a thing as an hour wait for any transportation. At least not during any of our visits. We have taken a taxi a couple of times around WDW and found the average fare to be around $15.00.

Good luck!

:scared1: 1 to 2 hours to park hop? That's crazy.

You can instead take to bus from AK to the Boardwalk resort and then walk to MGM. You can walk to EPCOT from there also.

I have to say that the WL is one of the most well themed resorts at WDW. My moms fav actually. But, I was not happy with the choice of resturants.

One of the things people forget is, if you go during a busy time, those buses are packed. Check and see how many people each resorts holds. You might lean toward a certain resort once you see how many other guest you will be sharing it with.

We had a very bad experience getting on a bus at PORS.

You can take a boat from WL to MK and there is a major bus depot there that will connect you to just about anywhere in WDW, even DTD. The same is true for DTD. You can take the Monorail from MK to Contemp, Poly and GF or to the Transportation Center for Epcot. All roads lead to the Magic Kingdom. :)

Getting away from the original question just a little... no, there is NOT "a major bus depot [at MK] that will connect you to just about anywhere in WDW, even DTD." at or near the Magic Kingdom. Buses do not run between Downtown Disney and any park, including the Ticket & Transportation Center.

Isn't there a bus now to Wilderness from Magic Kingdom? Actually, I know there was one last year because I took it. It was less than 5 minutes.

Didn't AK at one time offer buses to other parks? I thought for sure I've seen busses at AK to Epcot, MK, and MGM. This would have been leaving AK in the early afternoon.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, they do. I've taken the bus to Epcot from AK. Most of the parks will offer transportation to the other parks. MK has the monorail to Epcot, bus to MGM and AK. MGM has boat to Epcot, bus to MK, AK,,,and so on.

As for the transportation at WL...while I haven't stayed there as of yet, I have eaten there quite frequently, and the bus or boat has been my mode of transport to get to and from the WL. I haven't had a long wait at any time. Yes, some of those transportation sites give 1-2 hr wait times, but that's really just a case of 'worst case scenario'. I guess if you were at WL, and you wanted to get to the AKL, and as you walked up to the bus stop, the AK bus was just leaving, you may have to wait about 20 mins for the next bus. Then, once on that bus, it could take 10-15 mins to get to AK, then again, you may just miss the AKL bus, making yet another 20 min wait. But, as you can see, even with those waits, you are still way under an hour. I always leave an hour if I know I'm going to have to go to one place and then take a second bus...just in case.

I thank you all very much. I believe that these boards are going to be very helpful during the next few weeks. Now if someone can just tell me how to make the next three months go by faster. Thanks again to all. :hourglass
