For the last several years, I have stayed (AP discount) in a standard view room during late September/ early October. This year, that particular view seems to be unavailable on the website. Does anyone know if there is a large conference or something nearby? From the first day of the AP discount, the only room avilable has been the courtyard bunk bed. Even the rack rate on the website doesn't include standard as an option.

That time frame falls right in the middle of Free Dining and also at the start of the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Between the two alot of rooms have been booked.

True, but it's never been a factor in the past three years. I would think that with the economy being worse, that there would be more rooms available, not fewer.

1) A while ago, most of the Standard rooms were converted to Woods View.
2) Several Woods were relabeled Courtyard View.
3) Thus, there are a great deal fewer Standard rooms available at WL.

NOTE: Nothing changed, they just relabeled the rooms for more revenue. That is why WL has the highest percentage of "upgraded" rooms. Of course, the "upgrade" is usually to the previously labeled Standard view, with an occassional upgrade to aniother classification.

FWIW, that time frame is also when a pin code for 42% off was offered, and that pin seems to have been quite popular, especially for deluxes. I tried every day for weeks to get a standard view room, and there were never any available.

That said, I did find a standard room available for free dining about a week ago. I didn't end up taking it, but I was surprised to find it open after several weeks of calling and having nothing open.

I also wonder if certain rooms were left off the AP discount dates. I'm staying at CSR Sept 26th-Oct 4th. I called the very morning AP discounts were released. I was unable to get a standard room at CSR for the 26th, but the 27th-Oct 4th was available. I had to go with a King room for the 26th only, then a standard room for the rest of the week. After thinking about it, I called back and tried to get a King room or a water view room for the entire week (so I wouldn't have to change rooms). Nothing was available. I've checked online on the AP site several times since then, but still can't get a room in the same category (standard, King, or water view) for the entire week.:confused3

I noticed when booking our trip that although the WL standard rooms were unavailable on Disney's website that they were available on Expedia and other booking places. When I called at 6 AM the first day that they had extended the 4/3 dates, a Woods view (and higher) was the only thing available for the 4/3. So the standard rooms were probably never part of the "discount".

I also called on the first day of the AP discount and there were not any available. Since then, I've been checking the website often and still nothing. Actually, when I look at the other resorts' availability, it does seem that there are limited room types/views at several other locations. I'm wondering if maybe they are trying to fill the more 'expensive' views first and may release the standard views later. I just can't believe that resorts are at near capacity at that time of the year. Usually, the parks are pretty quiet during that week.
