we've just got back to the uk from a 2 week break to the swan (landed about 4 hrs ago) very disappointed with our experience, so to perk us up we're booking for next year, looking at wilderness lodge, and have been to the travel agents but we're unsure of the room capacities, they've quoted us for the wilderness lodge wood view room for 2 adults and 3 children 10, 6, and 3 (nearly 4) but the brochures and internet show the max is 4 people and a cot for 3 and under. for the price they've quoted its definitely not the deluxe room sleeping 6, can anybody clarify for us. Thanks in advance.

Off subject but why the disappointment with The Swan? I was considering it. Thanks! I do think WL and AKL only sleep four plus a baby but I'll let someone that is more of an expert speak to this.

Max of 4 plus one UNDER 3.

This is it. Your son has to be under 3. 4 is just pushing it but possibly, since it's Disney, they'll allow. You can say he's 3. Or you can book a suite or Villa, if that's an option for you.

It is against disboards policy to tell another poster to basically fudge a child's age and violate the fire codes set for occupancy in the resorts.

The reason it is under the age of 3 is that it is assumed one parent will carry the child and they will not take up room in the evacuation route in case of a fire. Once they reach the age of 3, they can evacuate under their own power and do take up room in the evacuation corridor.

This code has been set based on accidents that have happened previously and the ability to prevent an injury or death from occurring.

Z person who is found to give false information regarding room occupancy can be asked to vacate and they will lose any ability to get a refund.

Both WL & AKL have room limits of 4, plus 1 "infant" (3 or under). The other deluxes can sleep 5. WL does have some deluxe rooms (mini-suites) that sleep 6. They are pricey.

this is it, we didnt want to get there and have a cot for him, we were pushing it this time, but we were not given the option off a "roll away" bed at extra cost because he was under 3. he didn't like the cot bed but he was that shattered he would fall asleep anywhere and got used to it, he's a big lad and will be nearly 4.
To follow up on our joke of a swan experience, got there at 11pm after a 4hr flight delay to find no bed for the youngest, rooms were dirty, we requested a low level pool view and got the 17th floor although on the upside had a fantastic view, the made a mistake on room charging and emptied my bank account leaving me at rainforest with a $120 bill to pay and no money 3 days into the 14 day holiday, luckily we were at AK and after speaking to my bank and arranging emergency funds had to cut short our day to spend 4 hrs at reception with a very unhelpful, uncheery old soul, trying to sort it, in the end i had to resort to humiliating the hotel in front of a bus load of new check ins by repeatedly and loudly going over all there short comings to get a manager out. the maid came on day, stripped the beds and left, we got back to the room at around midnight to find all the dirty sheets on the floor and had to remake the beds to get some sleep, this is just the main things, there were a couple of niggly bits, on the upside the food was spot on, and the service at breakfast exceptional, but advertised in the uk as a 5*, but definitly no mare than 3 in my eyes.

Wow. This is really the first time I've read anything negative on the Swan or Dolphin and you have cause. The only other complaints I'd seen were parking/resort fee related. I can't imagine being out of my home country and having a financial issue like that. I would panic. Sorry your stay wasn't better.

didnt let it spoil the holiday and i'm glad now they make it clear that this is NOT a disney hotel so as not to affect disneys reputation, it was just a pain having to cut the day short and mess around, its a good thing we had the internet and online banking services so i could access funds and transfer money about or we would have been in a pickle.

ive just been on to our travel agent and apparently we can request a roll away bed for a child under 9 instead of a cot, but the made it clear it would only be a request and the bed is not guarenteed and he made it clear it would not be there problem, so we could get there and have only 4 beds for 5 people.:crazy2:

Disney will not let you book a single standard room at WL with the size of your party. You are over the capacity of the room.

yet the travel agents say its ok:confused3

I would get a different travel agent. The WL rooms only hold four people plus am infant. The rooms are too small for a roll away bed. You can check the Disney website or have your TA check and it will confirm what everyone here is saying.

Good luck. :)

ETA: I ran a test reservation on the Disney website and your family comes up as "exceeds maximum room capacity" for all room types except deluxe suites.

They are wrong, please get another travel agent or maybe book with Disney Travel on your own. But the WL is only 4 and a child under 3 & that is pushing it. Good luck !

To clarify, it is not 3 or under. It is under 3.:)

our agent is virgin, probably one of the biggest in the uk, i just had him ring his main office to double check, they confirmed with the resort that resorts offering 4 plus a cot will also accomadate 4 plus a roll away bed for upto 9yrs old.
BUT on disneys own holiday site when i input the same group details it says that there are no rooms available to accomadate our party.

the missis is concerned now and has decided on yacht and beach instead:blush:
i still fancy the WL, but she wont risk it.

That will work. Yacht Club and Beach Club standard rooms have a capacity of 5 which is what your party needs.:thumbsup2
