Wilderness Lodge Photo Thread- Please feed my addiction!!

I've already posted these to the Club Level and WL threads, but thought you might enjoy them here, too. They are of the Old Faithful Club Lounge (7th floor) and views of the lobby and courtyard from the OFC.

Yes, I would definitely suggest it. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of both the lounge and seating area. Items were replenished quickly and the seating areas were always kept neat and tidy. I also loved the view to the beautiful lobby below and out the windows toward the courtyard and Bay Lake.

I wasn't especially impressed with the IPO staff, but I was with the lounge staff, which to me is more important. I also loved the extra large seating area which wraps around the lobby like at the RPC (GF Royal Palm Club.)

If you have any questions, I'm happy to try and answer them for you. BTW, I like the sentiment in your signature:thumbsup2.

Wicked, that's all good to know. :thumbsup2

I think i prefer the WL to AKL. The hotel itself looks alot more impressive & the rooms look alot better than AKL in my opinion, what did you think of the room you stayed in?

I just cannot decide what CL i'd like to stay in! I was all for BC CL but WL CL is now a very close second.

& thankyou, it's a quote i came across quite a few years ago & i'm determined to keep it in mind! :)

The rooms at the AKL are almost identical to the WL rooms. They're both about 340 square feet which are the smallest Deluxe rooms at WDW. CL rooms at all WDW resorts are identical to non-CL rooms, except that they are sometimes located on the CL floor. However, at the AKL, non-suite CL rooms are not located on the CL floor. At the WL non-suite rooms are located on the CL floor. They also have a Honeymoon Suite at the WL that has a whirlpool tub and king bed and CL access.

The WL has much better transportation options than the AKL since you can boat either to the MK or to the CR and then walk from the CR to the MK or monorail to the TTC to Epcot. You can even monorail to the Poly or GF for a bite to eat. FTW is also just a short walk or boat ride away. With AKL, you will have to take the bus everywhere or drive if you have a rental car (I see you're from England;)).

The BC CL non-suite/non-Deluxe rooms are located on the CL floor. Those rooms are about 380 square feet so they are just a tad larger than the WL/AKL rooms. The advantages to the BC over the WL is that you can walk to Epcot and to the Boardwalk and even DHS (it's about a mile away). SAB (Stormalong Bay) which is a huge water park-type attraction shared by the YC and BC, is also a big draw. The BC does not have a quick-serve, food court-type eatery. The WL has Roaring Fork. There is also the price difference. The BC/YC CL water view rooms are about $90 more a night than the WL/CL rooms.

In general, the WL is a much more relaxed and quieter environment than the BC. I suppose it comes down to what your preference is as far as theming, price, location, transportation and room size. Have you considered a split-stay?

I hope this has helped and not made you more confused!

Thanks for the info! I didn't get confused. ;)

Hmmmm, i'm going to have to have another discussion with my bf by the looks of things, i'm so indecisive! :rolleyes1 I like the BC overall because it's a very beautiful hotel, but i know the CL there is pretty small.

We have thought about splitting, yes. BUT we only want to stay in a hotel for a 1 week at most due to the expense & because our extended will also be on holiday with us but staying in 5 br villa in Kissimmee - & we've promised we'll join them on the 2nd week. We just want to experience the hotel together as a couple, i've been desperate to stay in a Disney Hotel since i was little. :)

If you had the choice what would you chose, WL CL or BC CL ?? & what's the Deluxe rooms about?

Thankyou!

The "Deluxe" rooms are available at some of the Deluxe resorts: WL, GF, BC, YC (although it's also called a Jr. Suite there), and BWI. Only the CR and Poly do not have "Deluxe rooms." The Deluxe rooms are club level access rooms that are not usually located on the club level floor and they are larger than a regular CL room, but are smaller than a suite. Most of the additional room is dedicated to a sitting area with a pull-out queen-sized couch, coffee table and side table/lamp. Usually there is also an additional TV and sometimes French doors. The views are usually very nice and sometimes there is either a larger balcony or two balconies with separate access to both, like at the WL.

If it's your first stay at a WDW resort and it's just the two of you, I would stay at the WL in either a regular room or perhaps a Honeymoon Suite. It's not really a suite, but it's a step-up from a regular room, but cheaper than a Deluxe room, which you probably won't need since it's just the two of you.

I think you'll find the WL's theming and atmosphere very cozy and the lobby is amazing in person. The lounge seating area is large and the views down to the lobby and out to Bay Lake and the courtyard are spectacular.

Let us know what you end up booking!

Thankyou for that! :)

I think it's going to be a tough decision! I need to have a chat with my boyfriend about it as he's alot more decisive than i am - i'm a bit too analytical! :rotfl: :rolleyes1

I totally agree with WL

One note I do wish to make regarding the 'deluxe' tag:
Disney's reservation system allows you to reserve the villa studios in addition to their regular collection of rooms and suites. These studios are actually DVC rooms that Disney has the rights to rent - they have a kitchenette, queen sized bed and a pull out couch. They are referred to as "deluxe studios" online and do not have access to concierge level except in the case of the AKL concierge deluxe studios, which are highly sought after by the DVC owners and almost never are seen on the hotel rental side. Please make sure you contact a Disney reservation CM if you have any doubt about what type of room you're booking just to be sure. I'd hate to see someone book a room thinking it has concierge level access only to find that they're locked out.

While you can book a DVC room online as a "cash reservation" (meaning not on points), you would have to choose "Wilderness Lodge Villas" from the drop-down menu on the WDW booking page in order for a Deluxe Studio Villa to even appear as an option.

If you're booking a room at the WL, only the WL Deluxe room will appear (if it is not booked). I don't think there would be any confusion since the WL Deluxe rooms all have CL access and the DVC rooms would not appear on the booking page unless you choose the WLV from the drop-down menu.

can't remember if I asked on this thread or not, so if yes sorry but are there any pics of the 2 bedroom villa's kicking around ??? my bestie and her family are going mid August and just wondering, thanks.

Please keep the pictures coming. I have requested a 1st floor room near the pool bar side. We have two smokers in the family and thought it would be convenient for them to walk out at be at a DSA and we like to be close to the pool.

Any photos????

DH and I stayed in the honeymoon suite at WL for one night here are the pictures of the room.

We were in room 7085 on the Magic Kingdom side:

I should also add because I don't have pictures, the ceilings were vaulted and very tall. I would stay here again in a heartbeat if I ever get the chance to again.

We stayed in a studio at the Villas from May 8-15, our room was the first studio you come to on the third floor just past the circle rotunda, right across the hall from the housekeeping room. We never really heard any noise except for fireworks and electrical water pageant every night. Didn’t really hear any noise in the hallways, which I was worried about.
We had room 3531:

This is entry way into the room, to the right is the vanity and to the left is the kitchenette:

I thought I remembered the bathroom being a little bit bigger in our room last year:

Also, I should add that there was a dresser with a flat panel TV on the wall opposite the bed. This room was also a corner room so it has an extra window which we enjoyed. I would request this room again because it was so close to the elevators.
