Hi Everyone,

My wife and I are going to The Walt Disney World!!!
Arrival: 5/18/2010
Departure: 5/20/2010
2 Adults

Would you advice us the Wilderness Lodge or the Animal Kingdom Lodge?

kind regards,

Faisj

Hello! I have stayed at both resorts and they are both wonderful! Since you don't have children, I'd guess you won't be spending most of your time at MK. (Which is closest to WL.)

I'd stay at AKL, Savannah room, club level if you can swing it. There is nothing more specticular to waking up with giraffes, zebra's, etc outside your window. During our stay, I went to the Club lounge and brought our b/fast back to our room. We'd just sit on the balcony watching the animals. It was so quiet and peaceful.

AKL is closest to AK. Epcot & Studios are about the same distance from either resort.

If you do stay Club, be sure to book the Sunrise Safari. It is so worth the extra cost and early rise.

The toughest choice ever. The both are beautiful. If I could not get a savannah view I would pick WL. but other than that you can't go wrong either way.

Thanks Kimberle.

I am checking the prices right now at the Disney website:

Hold on to your hats!!

2 Adults at the club level = $934,-
I cant find the prices of the Sunsire Safari.
ANDDDDD the price mentioned above is just for the room!!!! AAAahhhhh
No tickets included
(I also did not find the Sunrise Safari price)

Fact is that we are from The Netherlands and tis my first time in the USA
I am a ex CM from Disneyland Paris and just have to see DisneyWorld.
Hence, the thought to stay at a Disney Deluxe hotel for just 2 days
(for the experience) and later in the holiday just come back for a day
to the MK.

Well we just got back from our first stay at AKL and I have to say we loved it!! It was the only deluxe left with a discount so we took it. I figured I would be disappointed and feel the resort was too far from MK. But It was perfect, the room was clean, we never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. It only took 15 minutes at most to get to MK. Takes at least 10 minutes on the WL boat. Also the CM that work there were some of the best in Disney. Boma was fabulous and the Mara was a really nice CS with lots of choices. We did not try Jiko but have heard it's excellent. My daughter and I enjoyed walking around Arusha rock talking with the zoo keepers and watching them feed the animals. We had a pool view since Savanna was sold out. But next time we will be booking savanna view.

Our family has also stayed twice at WL and we like that too. But AKL was even better in our opinion. We have Beach Club
booked for our next stay but my DD9 wants to go back to AKL instead. At first she had zero interest in staying there because Poly is her favorite.

thanks for the info. It will be our first trip to AKL Club level Have stayed at poly, and pop, and cabins. Cant wait for the club experience!

My DH and I are staying in AKL in April. We will not stay in WL again due to the price for the size of the room-the POFQ rooms are the same size-if you have to take 2 beds, then it almost feels like things got shoved in there.

I will let you know about AKL in a post soon!

I've never been to AKL but I do love WL! It's wonderful. I love that it's all one big building instead of having to walk from the building where your room is to the "main building" and I love that it's right on the lake, so you can see the Electric Water Pageant at night, or take the boat to MK.

Even without little kids, I still love going to MK, so WL is great for me.

I'm sure that AKL is great.. I've heard great things about it. But I am in no hurry to go there. That's just me though.

I hope you have a great time, whatever you decide.

I've stayed at AKL and visited WL for a few meals. We had a Savannah View at AKL, and if that is in your budget, I would say go for it. Both my wife and I agree though we don't need to do it again, and we do really want to stay at WL sometime in the future. So I guess I'm no help at all. I think you're in a win-win situation.

Thanks Kimberle.

I agree with one of the other posters - if you can pay for a savannah view, go with AKL. Otherwise, go with WL.

If you stay at WL and you aren't going to the parks, you can see the Electric Water Pageant from WL and walk over to Fort Wilderness to look around. From WL, you can also take a boat to the Contemporary Resort, look around there, and then monorail to Poly and GF to check those out. It just doesn't sound like you are planning to do the parks on the first part of the trip - you can still check out some classic Walt Disney World easily from WL without going to the parks.

Just to be clear, there are 4 parks at WDW! If you want to see everything and this is your one and only trip, you might want to spend more than a couple of days at WDW (it sounds like you are spending two nights on your first part and one day on your second part?).

I am so excited for you - I hope that you have a great trip to WDW and the US!

AKL just has such a special look and feel to it. Different from any other resort. LOVE it there (esp. the hot tubs :) )

And the Savannah view rooms are just the right icing on the cake.

I prefer AKL due to the superior restaurants and food court. The large pool and views of the animals helps too.

AKL is a really amazing resort. The theming is wonderful, the restaurants great, and it's such a treat to be able to relax and view the animals on the savanna. For 2 adults wanting to soak in something special -- I'd pick AKL!:cloud9:

ok, you will be staying 2 nights, then.. later, coming back to Magic Knigdom? whay not aadd that MK day in the front of the trip, and stay 3 nights?
there isn't enough time to do all 4 parks. WL does not have monorail access, only bus or boat.
BOTH lobbies are BEAUTIFUL!!! form WL , you could take the boat to MK, then the mononrail to the TTC, and monorail to epcot. given your time restraints, I would choose WL. you didn't mention which parks you really want to enjoy. do you have hopper passes?
both resorts are gorgeous. I would pick one based on your park plans.

Thanks everyone so much details!!! wauw!!!

I do have to say the more I read, the more I watch the Disney DVD and website
the more confused I am getting LOL

Where should I stay?
I know I will be there in WDW for those 3 days and I will go back for a day or 2
(we rented a villa in hudson)

I am getting so excited but confused :(

(this is so strange for a ex castmember who can really say everything about
Disneyland Paris LOL)
