I am trying to figure out what is the ideal room for a family of 4 (2 children) at the Wilderness Lodge. If you don't plan on cooking, is the one bedroom a waste? Not sure how I feel that young children would be sleeping in the outer living room area away from us. Is it too far from the lobby, Roaring Fork, etc, if you don't plan to cook daily? Issue is I would like more space, I feel the standard room is a bit too small but not sure if the others just have wasted space? I like the deluxe studio but do not like that they don't have a table and chairs, so once the couch becomes a bed, there is nothing left to sit on. Can someone break these down for me? Thanks!!

For us (family of 3), the one-bedroom villas have been fantastic! We never use the kitchen other than the refrigerator and coffee maker. I love that we have extra space and a washer/dryer. I've never found the one-bedrooms to be too far away from the main resort. The fact that the BRV villas have just been completely refurbished is another plus. I agree, the WL standard rooms are very small - I, personally, would go with the 1-bedroom.

I guess this comes down to how well you trust your children. Otherwise the 1BR is a fantastic choice. The extra space is great to have. Afternoon naps for the adults while the children watch tv in the other room.

Can you bring like a doorstop to leave the bedroom door open? You won’t be able to have an eye on the kids but maybe you’d hear if they started fiddling with the door.

Love, love, love the one bedroom villas! The extra space is such a luxury. We rarely use the kitchen, but find it handy to have a full fridge and freezer, toaster, microwave, etc.

You will not be able to see the kids from a 1BR however they will share the bathroom which is almost attached to the BR. However the are a long list of benefits to having this room. The other rooms are they Copper creek or is the Deluxe studio in BR as well? The BR studios are larger also will have a 3rd sleeping surface. I have never found any room in any part of the resort to be to far from any thing the report is small enough. I also did not care for the longer hallways at Copper Creek sort of made going to.... take longer because of where the exits are.
Add: the copper creek Deluxe studios are the same size of the standard rooms at WL and on the smaller side for DVC but all still ok with 4 especially when 2 are younger children.

Other rooms being BRV Deluxe studio or standard courtyard view room, 2 queen

So did you also use the main pool? Or just the BRV pool? You didn't feel the main pool or Roaring Fork was a hike from your room? What if you end up on the very end of the BRV building?

If the kids or one kid wants to nap they can sleep in one room and you can watch TV in the other. The extra space is worth it. Having a kitchen is great. On a rainy day my DDs like to bake.

What is it you think the kids will do "unattended?" You can bring a doorstopper alarm or do the chain lock, so they don't wander into the hall. You can't really stop them from turning on the stove or leaving the fridge open I guess. If you have a real escape artist I guess they could use a chair to do the chain lock?

You could take the living room and give them the master? They can't get to the kitchen or the hall without going through you.

Littler one may not like sleeping separate from us though, in a strange place. That's mostly it I guess, they can be trusted overall. Just might be foreign sleeping in different rooms on vacation, haven't done that yet (but trust me, I would love that...) Little one has older sibling so won't be alone. I did think of flipping the rooms, but the kids are smaller than we are, so the King bed would be more comfortable for us. Does anyone know if all the rooms have been renovated and do all one bedrooms have the Murphy bed now?

There aren't many rooms at Disney with king size beds, most are queen. I would carefully check what you are booking, if you think you are getting a king.
I believe she was referring to swapping the kids into the actual bedroom that has a King and the adults in the living room area. All 1, 2 and 3 bedroom DVC's have 1 King.

Would an air mattress in your room work for the younger kid? You can bring those if you wish. However, since there're no longer twin sofabeds with Disney-provided bedding post-refurb, you'd need to bring linens, too.

Something like that could be reassurance for a night or two until the 1br spaciousness becomes more familiar.

We have furniture sliders and an air mattress in our owners locker for this and also so we can hang out in the LR while DS is sleeping on the air mattress.

We move a chair and desk (sometimes both) to opposite sides of the room or to the LR to fit the air mattress.

I am not sure if they have been all completed but there have been reports that some on the highest floors did not get the murphy bed because of the roofline.
Have you heard if they do not have the Murphy bed, do they at least have a new sofa bed?

Boulder Ridge is fully refurbished now.
@ehh mentioned in a different thread that it has been fully refurbished now.

Since this was a full refurb it should have new couches for where the murphy beds can not be installed.
