Just returned from three nights (Monday - Wednesday) at the Lodge. We very much enjoyed our first stay, particularly the Whispering Canyon meal (great salad, cole slaw, cornbread, sausage, pork, ribs and beans!). We tried Ohana at the Polynesian the 2nd night and enjoyed the meal, but not as much as Whispering Canyon. We were going to go to Artist Point (been once) but decided the menu was too limited). Night 3 we snuck over to Universal City and found the place sparsely populated. We ate at Motown Cafe and were not impressed with the over-priced and marginal quality bbq dishes.
At the Lodge, we enjoyed renting a Mouse boat for about $30 an hour ( a little slow with our combined weight of about 300 - mostly me! - but we explored both lakes and took photos of the GF and the Poly and MK, and the monorail going into the Contemporary.
One night we hopped a boat to the Contemporary and watched the fireworks from the top (and later saw a sign that the top is reserved for California Grill guests - oh well, we weren't the only ones.
We visited Typhoon Lagoon and really enjoyed the park and its variety. The rides are tamer than Adventure Island here in Tampa (and Blizzard beach), but that was fine for us - my wife won't go on the real fast and high ones.
We rented bikes but only had 1/2 hour because it was nearly 5:30 - seems a shame since it is light until 8:30 - we only had a glimpse of FW.
The main pool was too crowded, but the DVC pool was nice. We stayed on DVC points in a studio villa.
All in all, we had a great trip, and since we spent the first two nights in a tent at Wekiva Springs State Park, it made the beds all the more comfortable and the AC even cooler!!!!
