Hi,
This is my first message, so forgive me if I do something stupid! We are leaving in 43 days for our first stay at WL. We have stayed off site twice, the CBR, and the ASM twice, but this time, we were determined to stay at WL because we had visited it and loved the lobby! So off we will go, but I'm a bit concerned about all the transportation woes I have heard about on other sites, and also, I wonder if anyone can tell me what the weather is like in early December? I've been there in April, May, and Oct, but never in December. Warm enough for swimming? Cold at night? Can anyone clue me in? And also, if you have any comments on WL, I'd love to hear them. We have a courtyard view, thought I'm not sure where that will end up being! Thanks!

Just wanted to say that the Wilderness Lodge is THE most magical place to be in December! We wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else that time of year.

As for transportation problems, we didn't experience any last December. The boat to the MK was wonderful and we had no trouble at all with the busses. Early December is a very slow time of year, so that may have helped with the bus situation.

Last December, the weather was very warm when we were there. We swam every day and were fine in shorts and t-shirts, even at night. However, we have also been that time of year when it has been quite chilly. Be prepared for anything.

Be sure to eat at Artist Point while you are at the Wilderness Lodge! It's some of the best food and atmosphere in all of Disney World. Also, try to take the special tour that is offered in the mornings. You will find out some great little-known information about the lodge.

Here is a link to my report on the lodge from last December. We fell in love with it and are headed back this year!

We are headed back to the WL for the 3rd time in December, and we have never been disappointed with the transportation other than to Downtown Disney. I did hear once that the bus is now shared with FT. Wilderness rather than Poly and GF. Could anyone confirm this?

WL is absolutely wonderful at Christmas. However, the weather can be night and day. One trip we swam and wore shorts, the other we wore coats, hats, and mittens and even bought a blanket in the Mexico pavillion for the parades. I'd recommend following a weather site a few weeks prior to the trip.

Thanks GEM for all the info! It sound like we are going to be so happy there. Your room sounds like it was in the perfect place. What floor were you on? I think I will take your suggestion and fax them a few days before hand. Is a phone call just as good, or does the fax work better?

Wonderful, the WL is gorgeous in the wintertime. You really need to eat at Artist Point as suggested. As for the room, I'v heard it's best to fax, I'v also heard it's best to call and ask for the Room Assigner  (I think that is their official title) Good luck!!

We sent a fax a few days before arrival and it worked out great. Our room was on the 5th floor. It was perfect! I know you will really enjoy your trip! What dates will you be there? We are heading back to the lodge for six nights Dec. 12th-18th and then over to the Boardwalk for six nights over there! I can't wait!

We are headed out the day after Thanksgiving for 7 days. I've been counting down for 6 months now. (How do you get the countdown on these posts? It's so neat) Thanks for all the info on WL. We plan on enjoying the resort as much as the parks this time. I just don't know how I'm going to pack for warm and cold weather for the 4 of us, and keep the luggage to a minimum! This ought to be interesting .................................

Tig-girl, we were there over Thanksgiving last year in room 5067 - beautiful view! You will love the wl! As for the clothing issue - i found the laundry area at the wl to be very convienent so if packing space is an issue its not a problem to do laundry there. I just threw it in and relaxed by the pool till it was done, didn't interfere with our vacation at all! Have a great trip!:D
