Can someone give me an idea of what people leave in the box..I am wondering what I should leave???

I left stickers for the kids :teeth: and some green Mickey heads .
When I went someone had added a NYPD Mickey Mouse Pin .
Oh yeah I also left some extra note cards. Have fun !

If the box is full, should we provide a bigger box?

This is a problem that has been bothering me since the box took off like it did. I did not expect it to be so popular.

I believe, and he can correct me if I am wrong, that FloridaCat would probably be the one to go down there and replace the original box with a new (larger) one. We want to make sure that the box isn't TOO big because it would be easier to spot.

FC, I will be PMing or emailing you regarding this. When do you plan to go down again?

Fred

Can the next person that goes to the box please bring several large rubber bands? I want to make sure that the lid is sealed onto the box after closing it. If it is getting full, we don't want the lid popping off.

I would assume that these would rot over time from exposure to the weather so leave a couple of spares inside the box please?

Any takers?

Just got back from The Lodge this weekend. With directions in hand, we went hunting on Monday October 27th. Finding it by the right log was a bit of a challenge but we did.

I went through all the cards. It was so great seeing so many familier names. A great deal where now signed front and back. I signed on the back of KCDISDAD's card. He and his family looked so fun on the Boards.

I left a keychain from San Francisco with the Golden Gate on one side and a Cable Car on the other (the center spins).

Thanks Majestic, this was sooooo magical!

I want to say thanks to everyone that has participated in the memory box. Reading all of your reports makes me feel as if I am there and that makes a difference!

Just remember to take something if you leave something to keep the box from getting too full. This way you have a memory that was left by someone from somewhere else in the world. Kinda magical isn't it? :)

Fred

When I found the box on Oct 25, it was getting near the full mark. Im sure there is still room for more additions.

I left the postcard of New York City twin towers and the NYPD Pin (I couldnt find my spare FDNY pin as I would have left that one too). I took a green mickey head in return. Good thing too, cause I lost my green DIS button while in WDW..I hope another Dis'er found it!

Im glad we have Florida Cat to keep an eye on this wonderful memory box. Thanks FC! Thanks Fred for your great idea.:happy1:

Starz723, thanks on letting us know IT IS getting full. Do we need more cards for DISers to sign?

Fred I have a box we can use and will get down next week and take care of it.
Need to check a couple of things for AspiringCindy anyway and I need a cup of RF chilli. Waa Hoo

Geez! Not even a month old and my "baby" is growing out of it's clothes already! Sniff sniff....aww I'm gettin all mushy.

Funny thing is, next time "I" return, I will have a new box to look at.

FC, Please, make sure you hold on to the original for me. It has sentimental value of course. :)

Starz723 - I saw the Twin Tower postcard and the pin. That was sooooo cool. It was very special.

Thanks.

FC: I think we had enough cards, but take some with you in case Im wrong.. I know the green mickey heads were getting low.
OHHH lucky you, getting to pay the lodge a visit. Eat some of that chili for me..it sure was yummy.

Fred, the box wasnt straining "yet". Not to worry.. We have FC to the rescue.

Aurora: aww thanks..I figured it would make a nice contribution being that I come from NYC.

Just returned from our stay at VWL 11/2 - 11/4. Late Sunday evening my 13 DS and I headed out to look for the box. Due to foot surgery, I was in a wheelchair due and didn't go any further than the bike rental area. My DS headed off with the directions. He was to bring the box back to me. He was loving every minute trying to be as stealth as possible! After a few minutes, he caming running back to get the camera after spotting two does just off the trial. He finally returned with the box under his shirt. If was great looking through the cards. At the time, the box contained some of the green Mickey heads (looking a little rough around the edges), some pencil top erasers and a key chain from San Francisco. I completed one of the cards, added a 2003 Mickey Pin and removed the key chain. There was 1 1/2 packages of index cards left in the box.

Like a spy on a mission:rolleyes: , my DS returned the box!

We enjoyed this so much and hope that it still is active the next time we return to the lodge.

Majestic, thanks for orgainizing!!

One thing I am learning about my beloved box is even though it's location and the box itself are always the same, the experiences people have and the box contents are always different. This is kind of like a never ending story. I am very much looking forward to returning and seeing all the new and wonderfull signatures and trinkets that the box posesses.

Thanks for sharing your story.

P.S. One thing that appears to be common is the deer that are spotted but I'm confident they can keep a secret. :)

You got to see it, I was sure hoping and that is great. Now you get that foot working so you can go hunt for it. I can just see DS, had to be a real treat for him

I will be going back in Jan. I will of course hunt for "our" box but this time I want to leave several Texas post cards in it if that will be ok . They will have postage already on them , I want people to take one and send it out to someone else on the board . While they are there. The mailbox is right by the elevators in the main entry:) . I just want to see how far they will go .

Love this whole box thing Fred !!!

My DH and I found the box on 11/6/03! It was so neat and was easy to find but is well hidden. The directions work! I signed in and left some "mickey heads" from Home Depot before we scampered off to the MK.
Thanks for doing this- it was fun!

:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Yahooooooo! I just arrived back from Disney. I mean like an hour and half ago. Feels good to be home, yet sad.
Anyways.... I had to post here first.

Arrived Saturday @ WL and went on our adventure for the box around 7:00 pm. Made it all the way down the trail without a flashlight and decided it would be better to come back the next day. DARN! DS & I did Cindys Sunday morning and a few rides at MK then we couldn't take it anymore and had to hurry back to the lodge to find the box. Well, we did it!!!!! The directions were great! My son felt like a secret agent or something. I'm telling you the box is soooooooo full. We signed in, went through the pictures and what nots, left some mickey ears, a nebraska sticker, used DS's camera and left a "close up" family photo, took a pin (DS is a pin trader), and put the box back. It was a great adventure. I took photos of DS finding the box - the expression alone was priceless.

Majestic - thank you very much. I have a whole scrapbook page planned for this.

Floridacat - you have to get down there with a bigger box. :)
