Hi All,

I am planning my 40th b-day vacation and was thinking of booking the deluxe room at the Wilderness Lodge. There are only 3 in my party and the cost is about $800 more, versus the woods view. Is this worth the price?

Also, my b-day is in October but I was thinking of going September 28-Oct. 2nd. Is this a good time to go?

Thanks!

Happy Birthday Sarah112
I love the lodge it's one of my top two. Generally though I'm not a big "must have a great view" gal. I've gotten the dreaded dumpster view and enjoyed my balcony just as much, so my immediate answer would be no. The woods views are gorgeous IMO especially after a long day of park touring. DH & I would sit on our balcony (usually with some liquid sunshine. LOL) and enjoy the late night. :cloud9: That is generally a great week to visit. Crowds are low and it's still warm enough to swim and enjoy the water attractions. I'm not sure how free dining (if it's available) will effect the crowds.

I say yes if you are 3 adults. The extra space in a deluxe room is worth it. If its only for the view then I say no. So how do you like them apples.

For instance. I took my son and a friend to Disneyland Resort. When its my son (15) and I its just a standard cheapie room. With the addition of a second teen I wanted some space so got a deluxe room which had a queen bed, sleeper sofa and set of bunk beds. The vanity area outside the bathroom was HUGE in terms of getting ready in the morning and we didn't feel like we were stepping all over each other. It was definitely more expensive but definitely worth it.

Are you talking about the deluxe rooms / junior suites? They definetly are superior to the other rooms as they have a separate sitting room with a pull out sofa, microwave and coffeemaker. Plus the deluxe rooms all face Bay lake and the balconies are solid stonework and seem to be more private. They are pricey but IMHO worth it is worth it. The bad side is that you are the furthest rooms away from the lobby but are closest to the pools and the boat launch to the MK

I appreciate the advice very much..I figured since it's my 40th to splurge alittle!

They told me it's the deluxe room with the 2 queen size beds with french doors and a sitting area with the pull out sofa bed.

We plan to spend alot more time at the lodge, relax, swim but of course still enjoy the parks at night.

I'm alittle worried about hurricane season....would you recommend the trip insurance?

Thanks again!

These rooms also come with Club Level access (Concierge) so the price reflects that service also. You really can't compare it with a Woods View standard room.

All of the Deluxe Suites aren't located at the very ends of the wings, there are 5 deluxe rooms that are located mid-way down the south wing that have beautiful views of the Inner Courtyard. They are located near the mid-way elevators making it more convenient to the 7th floor where club level food offerings are located.

Thanks for the info on the room locations. I once set a floor plan map to the WL and asked them to ID all deluxe rooms and they highlited only the ones at the end

:goodvibes Just in case you haven't seen the layout:

Kids shouldn't try to lift them) one day of our stay was Minestone (really exceptionally YUMMY!) and the other pan had pork and cabbage, the next day one pan had clam chowder, other pan had beef and bisquits, and the next day one pan had chicken broth with veggies, the other pan had paella. Wines were Merlot (14 Hands), White Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, sorry I don't remember all the beers but Bass Ale and Miller Lite were there in the cooler with Coke and Diet Coke, Sprite, juice boxes and other drinks

*Cordials and desserts - Kahlua, Grand Marnier, etc. Small dessert bites like brownies, magic bars, cookies

My picture shows the cooler before they stocked it up

We loved having the extra room and access to the lounge, it was just a hike to the lounge since our room sat all the way out on the end of the U facing the beach. The space was sooo nice with 3 adults and a child.

Hi,

Thanks so much for all the wonderful pictures! So we can go out to the cooler and grab a beer, soda anytime in the afternoon? That's really cool! I absolutely love it!

Should I request a specific room #? The view of the bay I'm sure is just beautiful. I may have a silly question, can you hear the boat horn from the rooms?

I've definitely made up my mind......you only turn 40 once and it's nice to be pampered for a special occassion!

I can't wait now!

Thanks again!

Sarah
