Ok I am currently working on our Girls Only Trip for next spring. Thinking first week of March or late April to avoid crowds and yet see some of the Flower & Garden festival. We are trying to stick to a budget and none of us want to stay in a value resort... even Art of Animation suites. I was hoping for POR but now i know that an adult cannot sleep comfortably on the pull down beds. Since I am not sure of our exact dates and probably won't be until next year I am not comfortable renting points just in case I have to change the dates (one of the girls is a hockey mom with a crazy schedule).

SO... I think Ive settled on a Bunk Bed room at the Wilderness Lodge. It's at the lower end of the deluxe spectrum and its across the lake from MK. And my friend has always wanted to stay there. My friend and I are both only about 5' tall. My mom would have the queen sized bed.

Tell me about the bunk bed rooms. Is this do-able for us do you think?? I'm sure the bunk beds are twin size beds but the picture makes them look like a full size bed. Is it pitiful to hope they are full sized?

I am a seasoned vet (41 y.o. with 13 trips under my belt), mom's a vet (65 and she's got about 5 or 6 trips under her belt) and my friend is still kind of a newbie with only 2 trips before this and she's the same age as me. None of us have ever stayed at WL - mainly because we're from Massachusetts so the theming is very similar to places we'd see here at home. What can you tell us about WL that we may love... on a budget, no kids, looking for fun and relaxing and a little park magic thrown in. (thinking mainly MK and Epcot and Downtown. altho we may check out new changes in AK and Studios if they seem interesting enough. also it'd be a 5 day 4 night monday-friday trip).

They are twin beds. But, they are twins, so they have the width and length of a twin, even in bunk form. I am 43, and I can climb up there. I think they open up space in what would be an otherwise smaller, deluxe room. I think you just need to realize that someone will have to climb. I love the hotel. The transportation to MK is wonderful, and I love Artist Point, the jogging trail, etc., etc. If someone doesn't mind climbing, I think it is fine.

Ive already volunteered to be the top bunk haha I dont mind the climbing. and it'll perpetuate the "im a kid this week" fantasy haha

You and I could be BFFs, because I'd totally stay in one of them and would totally want the top bunk for the same reason! I think a girls' trip for F&W would be awesome!

As for the WL...we've stayed there 3 times and love it. It's very relaxing, IMO, and it's a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the parks, which can get overwhelming. If you want it really quiet, make your way over to the Villas at WL (it's an annex building apart from the main lodge). There are public areas there that are very, very quiet and charming. We'd stayed at WVL twice in October and once in December and it's never overrun with kids. If you want to take the monorail to/from Epcot, you can take the boat or bus to MK and then get on the monorail, or take the boat to the Contemporary and get on the monorail there. OR just take a cab over to the TTC (it's essentially across the road from the WL, but not really walkable) and then pick up the monorail there. We did that on our way back from Epcot on our last trip and were literally in our beds 20 minutes after we left Epcot. The cab fare was $5. Best $5 we spent all week! The bus ride that morning to Epcot was miserable...it took us about 75 minutes to get there with the wait factored in, so we avoided it like the plague on the way home.

I would worry about a weight limit. Maybe you can call and ask if there is one?

OMG we did the bunk bed room last Memorial Day weekend, 3 adult women in our 50s. I actually CALLED the top bunk. It was fine for sleeping. But here is the thing that was a little tough. The ladder is at the foot of the bed, but it is straight up and down, not at an angle (like my kids bunks used to be). THAT alone would be fine, but they are REALLY REALLY slippery, at least mine was, maybe we had an over achieving maid, haha. And sometimes I had to get up to use bathroom during the night (pack a nightlight to out next to the bunk beds). I finally found that it was best to go up and down, barefoot. (I suffer from cold feet though, so I would keep sox in the bed to slip on when sleeping).

Other than that, it was just a bit weird when we were just hanging out in the room, I would have to either climb up there, or sit on my friends bed. But I liked us each having our own beds, that was nice, and of course, I love WL. But at age 56, perhaps my bunk bed days are almost over, lol.

Overall it was kinda hilarious.

We had a bunk bed room during our last visit in Sept 2014. Didn't need it really.........our luggage slept there......top bunk. To be honest I found the BB to be pretty hard and uncomfortable:scared:. Now that's me.........just one persons perspective. Other than that we just loved the WL............consider it our home resort. Although probably not going home again until 2017 :teeth:
