Just curious -- with WL being in the middle of so many trees, is there any issue with mosquitos?

It's amazing to me, all the times we've been to Disney I don't think I've seen or been bitten by a single bug. Amazing in the midst of Florida!!! Of course, we've always stayed at the values -- maybe the bugs at Disney are more upper-crust and stay at the deluxes. ;)

We stayed at the WL in June and never had any bugs - misquito's or any biting or creepy crawling bugs.

Just ducks walking around and swiiming in the pool once in a while.

There are also squirrels and bunnies in the woods.

It's my understanding that Disney sprays all resorts and parks for bugs so even the upper crust bugs "get it". I love WL and have never had a problem with bugs there. I am one of those bug magnets too!

We have never experienced a problem with any bugs at WL or VWL. I have set on the balcony for hours at the time, walked on the wood boardwalk to the dock, never a problem.

Nope, never had any problem with bugs at WL, just returned middle of September and trip went off without a hitch. We have encountered biting things over at FW some evenings but we now spray arms and legs when we head there in the evenings. The Lodge has an abundance of geikos though but they do not bother anyone.

A little ot - we were there one evening, looking at the little geyser & stream in the lobby that goes to the outside, we saw a small frog on the rock. We weren't sure if it was real but finally saw that it was. We told someone about it, he said that it happens, they can eat the bugs inside and can get outside.

We thought it was funny to see this frog in there & not be sure if it was Disney being realistic or if it was real.

We had a nice spider on our balcony at the WL last year, and a butterfly came by to see us one morning. But otherwise we were bug-free. :)

my 12 yr. old saw several 2 headed bugs! you would think these could be controlled like skeeters.:rolleyes1

It is interesting considering every other house or Condo I have been to in Kissimee Florida has screened in porch or whole backyard. How come 5 miles away from WDW there are bugs but on property none?

Come on! It had to be an AA! ;)

Didn't you hear the creaking sound as the AA tongue came out to snatch flies? :rotfl2:

Black bugs with two red spots on them? Those were the infamous "love bugs" - actually a pair of bugs enjoying each others company (for their entire lives). Believe me- there's no controlling them when they arrive for their month-long stay.

And unfortunately, they arrived a little late this year, so they are just getting started. The October guests will get to enjoy the lovebugs this fall.

I just returned from 2 1/2 weeks at VWL, and I didn't have trouble with any kinds of bugs. A couple times, there were one or two bees buzzing around my balcony, and there was evidence of spiders (an empty web or two) but no mosquitos. I'm kind of a bugophobe, so if there's a bug around, I'll find it.

Small world - I was at VWL from 9/16 through 9/20. Saw a few lovebugs toward the end of my stay - my timing was fortunate.
