Wilderness Lodge at 7 month window

Hi everyone

We won't be returning to the Mouse until 2012 but are in planning mode already.

We visited Wilderness Lodge for a meal on our first trip home this yr and loved the look of it. we own at AKV an SSR but would love to stay at WL.

Can anyone tell me the chance of getting an August booking here at our 7 month window.

We own 210 points at VWL and always book 10-11 months out. The problem/advantage of VWL is that it is the smallest of all of the DVC resorts and the people that own there generally always use their points and like to be close to the MK.
That said, you never know what circumstances create openings.. I would guess that at the 7-month window that you would be able to get VWL reservations, but the sooner you book, the better! You don't know until you try...

It should be no problem getting a ressie in August for VWL if you go for it at the seven month window.

December is the month most likely to be disappointing for seven month ressies if you don't own there.

August definitely shouldn't be a problem. We had to come back early from our May/June 2009 trip at AKV since my grandfather had passed away as soon as we got there. Since that trip didn't work out, we decided to book another trip in the same year and August was the only time that worked for the four of us that wanted to go. So I called two months out for 9 nights in a studio at VWL. We got 6 nights no problem and had to waitlist 3. Those 3 nights came through within a week. So if I was able to get in at 2 months out, I'm sure if you book at 7 months out you should have no problem.

We got a 1 BR at WLV five months out for this past May (Memorial Day Weekend). Even better, at time of reservation we requested prime real estate (top floor near elevator) and actually got that at check in!

Overall, of all the bookings we've ever done at non-home resorts this was definitely the best, in terms of not just exceeding availability expectations but also the actual experience at the property: check in was seamless, all staff at the resort were excellent and the property was fantastic (most thoughtful, detailed and immersive themeing of any resort at WDW and arguably the most relaxingly intimate atmosphere).

WL also has that nice MK access (with side benefit of that launch getting you quickly to the resort monorail loop; you can readily enjoy the dining and shopping amenties of three other major properties while staying at WL).

Frankly, if we were going to buy a WDW DVC ownership again, we'd have a very tough time deciding whether to go with what we originally did (BWV, which we still love) or switching to WLV.

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. Just a thought during EMH's is it easy to still get the boat back early hours of the morning. Just wondered what time they stop.

We got a 2br dedicated at the 7 month window for this past June. We actually got one of the Atrium rooms and loved the layout! We had a peak a boo pool view which was good too. We loved staying a WLV, this was also the first time my parents came to WDW with us which was also a plus. Good luck with your ressie. I doubt you will have a problem getting in at the 7month window.

About a month ago, I got a 1 BR at VWL for Thanksgiving week! I guess it all depends...I was looking for anything open at all and that's what I got- so pure luck. I am one happy camper!

I booked Christmas at VWL at the 7 month mark. I had to waitlist on one day, but it came through the next day. Suprisingly, I thought it would have been more difficult around that time of year.
