Wilderness Lodge and buses to DTD?

Why does it always take sooooo long to get to DTD from WL? I always time 1 hour from the time we sit and wait for the bus to when we actually arrive there. The buses never come often enough and the people getting on at all the stops look just as peeved as we do. Why can't the water parks have there own transportation, I mean making a stop and having no on get on or off is so wasteful.

We are staying at WL for the first time on our upcoming trip, so I am curious if it would make more sense to get on a bus to the TTC and then transfer to a DTD bus from there. Have you tried that, and, if so, what kind of time does it take? TIA for your response.

complaint to Disney.

they seem to think the water parks are just an addition. same goes for DTD.

plus when they need buses for other things - like one of the bus for resorts has a problem - guess who goes - the DTD bus.

I'm with MainStreetFireman...we have our first trip to WL in 21 days. Is there a quicker way to DTD from WL? That is our first destination after we check in. I hate to think that we are going to have to wait over an hour to get there!

Is it any quicker to take the boat over to the Contemporary and catch the bus there?

I know there is always the cab option. Any idea how much that would cost?

the DTD bus only goes to the resorts.

now one of the water park buses goes to TTC.

the bus before that went to TTC from WL now goes directly to MK. but you can still catch the monrail and goto TTC.

It's not just the Wilderness Lodge bus that seems to take forever to get to DTD. It's all the WDW resorts. It's because the buses have to travel through heavy traffic around the DTD area. :confused3 Plus all the stops while at DTD the traffic is terrible.

If you were waiting at Typhoon Lagoon you would be even more upset if the buses didn't stop.

It's been a couple of years since we've been to DW. There use to be a chart somewhere on a website that told the amount of time it took to get to anyplace on Disney property from each resort and park. Anyone know where I can find that? We may have to plan for a taxi to get from WL to DTD one night for dinner and a show.

Yeah, that would be a great tool to have on our upcoming trip. Anything that cuts down on the time it takes to get to the places where I actually want to spend my time -- I'm all for that.

I have no idea what the problem is but we did not encounter this with AKL buses on our previous 2 trips. I was so annoyed by the transportation at the WL that I went and rented a car as opposed to changing hotels. I would have been better off spending that money on a monorail resort or Epcot resort. I loved the beauty of the lodge but have vowed never to stay there again until the transportation issues are solved. It took us over 1 1/2 hours one evening to get to Epcot and that is just not acceptable to me.

it is with all the DTD buses - you need to write to Disney - make it plain that you don't like the controllers taking the DTD buses when something goes wrong elsewhere.

part of it is the traffic - part of it is the controllers who feel that can reroute to please their schedules and the heck with the people suck at places.

was on DTD bus going to OKW - well it got rerouted to CBR to take people to the MK. the bus driver asked if we minded waiting - and since we didn't he let them off first.

as long as the controllers think they have right to do this. then the DTD buses will be the slow.

IWISHFORDisney - hey I agreed with you - it took the AKL bus for EMH in the morning over 45 minutes to pick us you - another words we missed EMH because the bus was send out late. at AK I complainted to one of the controllers and say that was highly unfair. Well the rest of my stay was perfect. the other buses came and went in the 10 to 20 minutes wait that Disneys use to said.

either disney meets more buses and bus drivers - or the controllers need to go through some time mangement courses.

oh if it helps was promised that once all the camera were at the bus stops - that you would not have to wait any longer. but that only works at bus stops like AKL, WL, and Pop - which have a different stop for each bus.

It really is better if you take a cab, they are only $15 and well worth it! :thumbsup2

This is a strange question probably, but do they have cabs that hold 6? We live in an area with no cabs so it is all new to me!!! I'm thinking of taking one to DTD for dinner and La Nuba one night. One hour is too much wasted time. Now I'm wondering since it is a very busy time when we will be there, if I'll make all my dining reservations!! I thought Disney upgraded buses and routes awhile back. I was hoping the times would get better.

They have both cars, and vans.

As far as the rest of the destinations, they were fine. Actually the Epcot buses came every 10 minutes. It was that darn DTD situation. I'm tellin ya, it always takes no less than an hour to get there. UNACCEPTABLE! We have been dealing with this since our first trip in "01. Next time we'll probably rent a car which alleviates all these problems but it is an added expense.
