Hello!

We are getting ready to book our hotel for this September, and are heavily leaning towards the Wilderness Lodge. We were set on Boardwalk Villas, and then saw some great prices for Wilderness Lodge online, and after thinking about it we think the location will be better for our 2 year old. We've been to several Disney resorts, but this would be a first for either Boardwalk or WL.

Would it be worth it to upgrade to club level in WL?

We keep seeing great reviews regarding the WL boat to MK. Anyone have any issues with it? We will need to go back to the room in the afternoon for naptime and then will head back out in the evening.

Last question, we are making the right choice, right? Although we will visit all the parks, we will most likely end up at MK at some point everyday (DD has already been twice, and is fully aware of all the rides there!).

Any input is appreciated! Thanks!!

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in February and loved it there. The boat to MK is great. We ended up taking it all the time. Our three year old granddaughter loved the little bridge over the water in the lobby. It was a perfect resort for the kids, more compact than Boardwalk. And it has a sandy beach to play in.

There is a great playground over at Fort Wilderness. It is close to the boat dock and you can take a boat over there.

Here is the information thread:

I think WL is a great choice. We have stayed at the WL twice, with the first time being CL and I can't say enough great things about it. The lounge has plenty of seating with tables/chairs arranged around the railing that overlooks the lobby, the food offerings are plentiful, and the CL CMs are top notch. If CL is doable, I would definitely recommend upgrading. We also love the location of WL as it's convenient taking the boat to MK as well as to the CR where it's easy to hop on the monorail and go to the Poly and GF for dining, shopping, or just visiting. I don't think you would regret staying at the WL. Have a great trip :).

We love WL. It feels like home, and is always hard to leave. Club level is a big bump in price. Definitely not worth it if you are doing the dining plan, but if you plan on returning during the day and early nights, I say go for it.

The only time we had difficulty with the boats were when we were running tight on time, headed to FW for Hoop De Do...apparently a lot of FW folks had come over to use the pool at WL, and were headed home...causing quite a line. That was one day. All other times, the boat was wonderful! Kind of slows things down on crazy, busy days at parks.

Have fun!

We stayed at WL 5 years ago with my DS who was 4 1/2 and the grandparents went as well. We loved it! DS loved taking the boat to MK and even boat to the CL to get on the monorail was very convenient. We loved it so much we are staying there again this time DS will be 10 and our other DS will be 5. DS also loved the slide in the pool, the beach and being able to see the boat parade. You will definatly love it there.

My Dh and I along with DS 15 and DS 11 stayed WL CL last July and loved it. The boys just wanted to eat there all the time, it was more in price but in the long run I think it saved us money.

WL is an excellent choice for someone with a small child. Very compact, close to MK, great theming, lots to keep little ones entertained. We actually took the bus to MK after reading on the WL thread that it can be faster than the boats, and that was our experience. We were at the entrance to MK in 5 minutes flat. :thumbsup2

As for CL, it *may* be worth it for you IF you're not on the dining plan, IF you'll be back at the resort enough to take advantage of it (sounds like you will be), IF you tend to be light eaters/grazers. It is well worth it to our family for those reasons -- we enjoy having the extra space in the lounge for relaxing/getting out of our room, we tend to enjoy more frequent small snacks rather than big meals, we like a glass of wine in the evening, and so on. For people with a different touring/dining style, though, it's not worth it.

Whether you stay CL or not, I don't think you'd be disappointed in WL.

This is your choice! I think WL is an amazing resort, stayed there and the fam loved it! We will be staying there this summer and are ecstatic!

We stayed at BWI, and that was DEFINITELY our favorite resort. Although, the family consisted of DS13 and DS10 at the time, they loved it. The slide at the pool was AMAZING, it was never crowded, and for the price, you get easy walk/boat ride to HS and EPCOT. Although, I do agree, little kids are better off at WL due to its convenience to MK and its atmosphere. But I would consider looking into BWV a little more before making your final decision. Although, this is all just my opinion! Good luck with choosing!
