looking for a family trip next December. Anywhere from 5-8 people.
What would you prefer
Wilderness cabins or the treehouse?

Thank you!

Cabins are newly refurbished, Queen bed, bunk bed, pull out sleeper. Cabins listed to sleep 6 max. Treehouse a are huge, sleep 9, have washer/dryer also. Cabins do not have laundry inside, must go to pool areas for laundry. Check the FAQ's for each for pictures of sleeping areas to get a better idea. Also, you can rent a golf cart at Cabins or use their internal bus system to main bus stops for park transport. If you have a car, you can park it right by the cabins or Treehouse. Cabins are considered MK area, while Saratoga is Downtown Disney area. Enjoy planning!

Is this a first trip for the group? I'm asking that because the treehouses are more remote than a cabin, so you will be more "separate". Plus the cost of a treehouse is much more than a cabin. I have also heard that you take an internal bus from treehouses to the main Saratoga bus stop, but hopefully someone else can chime in an confirm or deny that. If true, then the transportation is basically a wash.

My vote would be a cabin, two if you need them. You have the boat to MK, lots of activities, good pools, and more "social" activities vs. a treehouse which is all alone.

The beach at the Fort is great at night for viewing Wishes and the Electrical Water Pageant. You can take a boat to MK, or a smaller boat that makes a loop to the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge. Plus, the campers all decorate their sites for the holiday and it's so great to rent a golf cart and ride around to see them all. We decorate the golf cart and bring a Bluetooth speaker to blast some holiday tunes.

Good luck deciding!!

Wilderness is confusing -- there is FT Wilderness and right next door is Wilderness Lodge - Wilderness Lodge just announced an additional significant construction project. The FW Cabins are being done in clusters -- if you are not going until December -- I can't imagine how they would not be done by then as they are doing as described above, which isn't major construction. I will comment-- there is only 1 bathroom in the cabins, not an additional half bath and depending on how many you have going, that can be a challenge.

We are staying in February, for the first time, in a value -- the Art of Animation family suites as they have 3 separate sleeping areas and 2 full baths -- with 5 of us, I'm not taking a chance on the only "facilities" being occupied when I need them. They are about the same price range as the FW Cabins which is significantly less than the Treehouses.

Keep in mind that the FW cabins have the queen and the bunks side by side. When you say family trip, if it is three couples and two kids, the sleeping arrangements might not correlate.

Another point. If you can get Free Dining, the treehouses are Deluxe and cabins are a Mod which gets the regular dining plan and Family Suites are Values, which get the Quick Service plan. If you go for a room discount, mods are higher than values, villas are highest.

SSR Treehouses have 3 bedrooms and can sleep 9 with 2 queen beds, 1 bunk, 1 sleeper chair and 1 queen sleeper sofa. This means that you could fit all 9 people in 1 villa. I believe they have 2 bathrooms.

FW Cabins have 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. There is now the 1 queen bed, 1 bunk, and 1 sleeper sofa. If more then 6 people go, you would have to get 2 cabins.
