Wilderness Cabin Question

We are planning a visit to WDW during Presidents week. We are not used to big crowds, as we always go during slower times. We thought the Wilderness Cabins would be a peaceful place, even during a busy holiday period.

Can anyone tell me about their experiences in the cabins? Also, we will be using our own transportation, so being by a bus stop is not a perk for us. What cabin loop area is close to all of the recreation?

Thanks in Advance for any information!:D

The Cabins are wonderful - I haven't stayed at them since 1998, so I can't recall the loops. But I can tell you that we loved them enough to stay in them the first 3 trips we made to the Wolrd.
I think they'd be perfect during a busy time, as everything seems so removed from them. It is quiet, peaceful & cool in FW.
Even tho it is quiet, there are tons of activities if you want action.
The extra room is a real bonus, if you are a family. I know you have a car, so the buses don't matter to you, but I never found the buses an issue there anyways.

Yes, I agree you'll love the cabins. And at busy time, the fact that you won't have shared walls with other people will keep things nice and quiet. We were actually there at a very slow time this past January, and things were quiet anyway but the cabin was like a little home for us!

We were in the 2100 loop if I recall correctly -- we too had our own car, and a golf cart, so I didn't pay much attention to bus stops either, and don't recall how close we were to one. We'll be at the cabins again in October and we'll want to use a few buses then however!

Have a great time! You're on to a great place. :jester:

And PS, you know about the "Camping at Disney World" forum, right? If not, just scroll down the bar past resorts etc. until you reach it. Naturally it's all about Fort Wilderness.

The cabin loops are not close to the recreation activities, restaurants, trading posts or beach area. You will need to take a bus or rent a golf cart to get to these. A car is great for getting to the parks, but you can't drive them around the campground except to get to the trading posts for a few minutes.

We stayed in the 2600 loop in May and loved it. We were close to the quiet pool and away from the main road. It was very relaxing and the extra space was great. We ate breakfast in the cabin and ordered dinner in a couple nights when the kids were really tired.

We had a golf cart so I don't know about the busses. it really made getting aroung easier.
