Driving home from MK parking lot today we saw 3 wild turkeys along the highway.....brave little things to be doing that this time of year.

J & J :earsboy: :earsgirl:

When we were there in July they were hanging out at the Magic Kingdom along the train route. I guess they like the Florida weather just as much as we do! Hope they go into hiding later on this week...

it's not surprising. i see rabits eating on the lawn of epcot all the time.. as well as in Mk

I'm guessing that the wildlife is pretty safe at DisneyWorld. They probably don't allow hunting.

There are tons of wild turkeys in this area. I recently stopped to let a group of about six cross the road near my house. The birds in Florida are amazing.

Haven't seen any wild turkeys, but the day we checked into Wilderness Lodge (Oct. 1) a beautiful bald eagle circled around the lake, and flew into the courtyard area. My DH says Disney must have arranged it for our welcome, as we did not see it again that week.

While many think that many types of animals dont exist in Florida, they'd be very surprised to know that there is really more wildlife (nature wildlife) in this state than in most states in the country.

The Animal Planet could exist on Florida alone.

Many dont realize that there are Panthers, Bears, Turkeys, and so many animals you'd never think of, in this state.

It's not uncommon to be driving down I-75 in SW Fl and see turkeys roaming the sides of the interstate.

I had some wild turkey at WDW just the other...what's that hon? The bird? Oh, sorry. :confused3 Sometimes I just crack myself up. :rotfl2: Actually, when I'm working the morning shift, I see all kinds of wildlife in the field going past the wdw speedway. You can always see a bunch of deer right by the road if you get there by 730 or so.

hi
havn't seen wild turkeys since we went to myakka state park, on leaving the magic kingdome in september at dusk there three small deer grazing quite happily on the grass verge! ::MickeyMo

That's funny, we just got back from our week long trip and seen 3 deer on the side of the rd on the way into MK. They were sooo cute.

this is unrelated to Disney, I've never seen a wild turkey at Disney. But, 2 years ago around October or November I went outside to feed my animals and there before me was a huge wild turkey - it was a Tom. At first it startled me but it appeared that he wasn't afraid of me. Well, we have chickens so I checked on them and they were fine. I didn't know if the turkey would try to hurt them. The turkey actually approached me, in a friendly way. he wasn't afraid of me. He ate with my chickens and hung out at our house for about a week. Then he just disappeared. I named him Frasier. I do hope nobody shot him for Thanksgiving dinner because he disappeared right before Thanksgiving. Everytime I heard a gun shot I thought about him. Yes, we live out in the country so gunshots are a way of life. Unfortunately. I have pictures of him. If I knew how to load them to this thread I would. He was a great bird!!!

I saw a red fox about half a mile from my house the other night! It's the second time in my life I've seen one in the wild--they are GORGEOUS creatures!

I've also seen armadillo's, turkey's, sand cranes, possum, skunks, raccoons, generic squirrels and such, a plethora of birds, and various snakes, lizards and bugs all within a half mile or so of my house. We live near a large State Park, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a deer, lynx, or bear in my yard at some point.

The aardvark you saw was an armadillo, they are all over Disney property. Once saw a momma one with about 6 babies, very cute.

There's a group of Turkeys at SOG also. We saw them every day we were there 6-12 Nov.

DUH! Yes thats what we saw and that is what I did mean to say :rotfl: I just cant be responsible for correctly identifying wildlife without at least one cup of coffee first!

We were at the ASMo last week, there was about 10-12 turkeys by Andy's Room. They were in the grass and then decided to take a walk on the pavement by the race car. People were standing around laughing. Then some kids chased them away. :rotfl2:

Last year my DS and I played the Magnolia Golf Course. There must have been 100 turkeys at various location on the course. While I won't attempt to suggest that they were domesticated, they sure weren't too scared of us. One of our balls landed among the flock and they barely moved until we approached in our golf cart.
