There must be something to doing what you love...my dad loved flying and going to work was fun for him...but, he was also VERY frugal...so maybe cruises were just too expensive for him!

Don't get me wrong, my dad LOVED to fly -- in fact his two careers were his two hobbies -- flying & farming!! (He still farms -- I can see some of their cattle now as I look out the window! :rotfl: :rotfl: )

I know what you mean about the frugality!! OMG -- we stayed in some very interesting motels!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :sad2: While getting to fly first class was great, there's a special comfort of going to the airport and knowing I'll get on a flight. Besides, I don't think flying is as fun today as it used to be.

I'm sure we'll have some good stories to share!!!!! :chat:

Dad never got to do a cruise because of the cost. Our vacations sound very similar though. Getting the hotel went like this:

Dad: Lay down in the back seat!
Me: Why:
Dad: So they won't charge us for you!

Those were the days! :rotfl2:
So if you would've gone to a drive-in theater, would've he put you in the trunk until he pulled into the parking spot??!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Good Sunday morning, Banana Heads

Shell - where's Mr Mutt?? Or is he going to counselling because of your online hussy ways?? You banana-tart you!! :teeth:
Sarah, Sarah, Sarah :sad2: ... thank you SO MUCH! Now my husband calls me "Banana Tart" with a little giggle and a snort :lmao: .

Stony, where are you, you big piece of canadian beefcake
Canadian Beefcake?! Talk about a major snort while reading that! :rotfl2:

On-board activity I am looking forward to the most ... definitely Match Your Mate! I think it's on Monday night (Wendy, what does my spreadsheet say? :rotfl: ). I think that will be good for some major laughs!

So since someone broached the subject of Orient Beach earlier ... um ... anyone planning on going there?! ;)

Yes Shell Monday is match your mate, so we will seeing you and da mutt there, save us a seat...

Good morning all!

We have a nice :sunny: day here today! :cool1:

DD had a great time at the carnival yesterday! In addition to all the junky toys she won at various games, she won a plate of cupcakes from the cake walk and a bottle of Coke from the ring toss. (The Coke will probably be stolen by DH & mixed with Bacardi!! :drinking1 :rotfl: )

I got stuck working a double shift at a game because they didn't have enough workers. Oh well, I helped young gamblers hone their dice-throwing skills as they tried to roll doubles in order to win a prize! Next stop, Vega$!!!!

Trying to catch up here --

Kathy, so glad you don't clean those 4.5 bathrooms on your own!

Lynn & Jeff -- let's just plan on snacks/drinks instead of a full-blown dinner on Friday night. Does that sound ok???

Watch out for those deer! Hopefully you had a relatively low deductible. It's usually a not a bad idea to keep the comprehensive (other than collision) deductible low for all those not-at-fault occurences. (Gosh -- sorry to be dispensing insurance advice on a Sunday :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: ).

Wally, thanks for checking in! Today may be a better for taking the Harley out for a spin. :moped:

Sarah, you are just way too funny as usual. I foresee myself snorting drinks out my nose if Shell, Wendy & you are together for any length of time! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Time to do something more constructive than sit on my butt and read posts & trip reports! :rotfl2: Oh, that is constructive & acceptable, you say??!!! :confused3 Don't think my Bill heartily agrees with that. . .

Later!!

We tried the rainforest last year for the first time. Loved those heated chairs.

Hi Jan (or anyone else who has been / done that),

Can you tell me more about the rainforest? I thought I had read somewhere that you can pay for either a one-day visit or for an unlimited full-week pass to go. Also is this something that requires a reservation, or do you just show up and hope everyone else on board doesn't have the same plan? (a.k.a first-come, first-served)

Like I said, I know I read about it waaaaaaaaaaay back, but now I can't find anything about it!

Thanks!!!! :thumbsup2

Cheri

Hi Cheri:

We went to the rain forest on a day pass. We could have gone as many times as we wanted on the day pass. This year, we are planning to get the week pass. Reservations are not needed to go to the rain forest.

Have a great day everyone!

Jan

And believe me - you hope everyone DOESN't have the same idea you do because there are only 4 loungers!

Shopping was a bust. I got 6 local post cards and some groceries. BOO HISS!

Hello again ...

Couple of questions:
1. Who is leaving early? We get to FLA on the Friday before we embark.
2. Does anyone have any tips on packing gowns/dresses and suits?

We are leaving Thursday afternoon and driving there, we are staying Thurs and Fri night at an I drive hotel. We are going to Sea World friday

We just bought a rolling garment bag for the suits and dresses..

So does that mean you and Mom aren't going to get to do any Christmas shopping on Friday? :(

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Kathy - hope you had a good time at WDW...wish I was there with you!

Woo - hope I didn't ruffle too many feathers :grouphug: :teeth:

Well, beefcake and mini-b had a great time at 'Flushed Away' and I had a bit of peace, which is always nice. They are outside right now being 'firestraters' with our chiminea. Boys will be boys they tell me!

It looks like my sister *may* be in labour. This is her first and she is pretty excited. I am excited for her! A little boy is on the way. They are up in Sudbury ON which is pretty far North so I am hoping the weather holds for them - itis a 1/2 hr drive to the Hospital so we defiantely don't want to add white-outs to that (for you Southerners that is snow squalls so bad you can't see in front of your face to drive anywhere). Anyway, this will be my first 'Aunt' assignment so I am looking forward to it!

I had to go out shopping today for some fall/winter work clothes. The closet was looking pretty bare. I managed to pick up a fe things - I am a major mix and match person - and am happy it is over. As you can see I am not a big shopper. I can never get pants to fit (too big in the waist to fit over my ample bum and thighs) *sigh*. And shoes are a pain as well becuase I have stupid giant waterskis for feet. Anyway, with the help of Walmart, Old Navy and Payless I have a few things to wear and am not in the poor house. I definately need Lynn up here to get me in the shopping mood! :teeth:

Well, I better get started on my piece-de-resistance dinner for this evening 'le sloppy joes' so we'll talk to everyone later.

Afternoon all:

Well this has been one busy weekend for me.....but I have to say, yesterday I did get some ironing and also packing done. I have one suitcase packed.

Shell: We are bringing a garment bag that can be checked in that we are putting Wally's suits and my dress. I'm hoping that will keep them less wrinkled. :confused3

Well I went to my dads this morning in Chicago and visited with him for a few hours, then on the way home, stopped and did grocery shopping. After I come home and put all that away, my DS and I worked on my door signs and have them all completed :woohoo: :cheer2:  ....I think they turned out really well. Then after that, went and did more ironing, cleaned up the kitchen as Wally made some salsa (& a huge mess) which also smelled up my whole house. So this is the first time since I have been home that I got to sit down for a few minutes. Oh yeah I almost forgot, I packed up a package to send to my DD. :sad2: man I tired just reading all of that.

Shell: dont let Sarah pick on you, I dont think your a tart at all... :teeth:

Be back on later...

None :faint: do you feel sorry for me or better yet sorry for the stores... :rotfl2:

Good Evening All     ,
Well today DH and I got so much done!! Well talked to my Mom today and she was upset because my grandmother is not doing so well. She suffered a stroke 6 years ago which left her bedridden :sad2:. DS is getting 5 shots plus The flu shot tomorrow at the Doctor's :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: . Well I am going to watch General Hosptial on SoapNet since I missed it on Friday. Oh, DS grow out of his infant car seat :sad2: :sad2: !!! Talk to you tomorrow!!

Shell: We are flying down Friday and staying at the Hyatt in the Orlando Airport.

Kathy: Hope you had fun at WDW.

Cheri: Sounds Good to me on the snacks and drinks!!

DutchMommy: I am a VERY good shopping partner :teeth: :teeth: !!

Howdy,
well we had a great day at Magic Kingdom today. It was great weather and we were there by opening time, so we had some time before it got too busy. Although it was a busy day for off season.
I did see one Disney cruise Line bus full of happy people on their way to board the Wonder. Mickey, Donald and Goofy were having a party in the back window, but they wouldnt let me come and play :sad2:

After we were done at MK we went to the Winter/summer wonderland mini golf course by Blizzard beach. With annual passes we get in for 1/2 price which is great!! There is a small pond along side the golf course and there is a small slab of concrete on one end for maintenance. On that slab was a nice alligator sunning himself today.
One little boy got so excited that he ran to his car to get his camera to take a picture. I was thinking where there is a smaller gator there is always a bigger gator!!!

Well hopefully tomarrow I will be ble to finish my last door sign.

Have a great evening everyone.
My tootsies are crying for a hot soak in the tub!!

Kathy

WOW what a day!! We went to church, then came home to get ready for our party. party: We had 25 friends over. They are a bunch of our old neighbors. Everyone slowly moved away. We all had kids around the same time and have kept in touch over the years. The kids range in age from 2-10. It was fun, but I am beat :faint:

I am taking a garmet bag for my dresses and DH suits. We have done this several time and it ususally works great.

We are arriving Thanksgiving day. I don't think we will be doing a whole lot that day. I would like to hit the Disney out let store. They have some great deals!! Much cheaper than Magic Kingdom We are staying at Pop Century. We are going to Magic Kingdom on Friday ::MinnieMo :earsboy: Should be fun.

What are everyones plans for shore excursions?? We have the Coral World /Island tour shore excursion booked for St Thomas. We picked that because we thought the kids would like Coral World. I did not book anything for St Martin. I have read a lot about Maho Beach. It is near the airport and I guess the jets fly right over the beach. I read it is a must see for the kids. DH and I have watched some videos on you tube-it is amazing. Don't think I would want to stand right under on of those big jets. :scared1: Also heard about a beach called Little Divi Bay. Any one else have any suggestions?

Well off to get the kids in bed :cloud9:

Talk to you all soon
Lorna :firefight

We're leaving early! We're Leaving Early!

9 workdays to go YAHOOOOOOOOooooooooo

We go to Florida on November 17th and staying at Wilderness Lodge. (And, I won't be wired, so if there's anything I need to know about meets decided after that, somebody Puleeeeeeeeeeze call me!)

Got the bears clothes out and ready to pack. got a pile of stuff I might LIKE to take. Started organizing Villa stuff - laundry kit, snack kit, grocery list, coffee kit. When we used to camp, I had a great list - never forgot anything. I'm not that wll organized any more.

Winter trips just require so much more stuff than summer. Summer a few shorts and shirts and sandals does it.

Shell, I hang the stuff in plastic cleaners bags and then interleave them in the suitcase still on the hangers. In otherwords, lay the bottom of the skirt in the suitcase with the top hanging over the top. Then lay the next garment in 1/4 turn with the top h aning over the side. Next garment goes 1/4 turn further. Then the first garment gets folded over, then the second, and so forth. it makes the folds padded and nothing gets creased. unfold and hang at destination.

Have a great night, all!
