Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Wendy: Have a great trip. Looking forward to your report when you return!
Linda: From what I saw on the excursions listing, there are van tours on both St. Maarten and St. Thomas, so you should be able to head out and see plenty of the islands, and get in some great shopping. In addition, there is a "mall" right beside the docks in St. Thomas, and the tram to Paradise Point is very close by as well.

Well, headed to the upper 90s again here today with heat index above 100. I'm really looking forward to fall! (Dangit, there it goes again)

Wendy,
I was happy to hear that most people seem to be ok on the carnival ship that had problems. That would be so scary to experience. I am surprised that nobody was thrown overboard with as far as it tilted. I guess a guardian angel was watching over those people. Which I am grateful for!

My babysitter was on that Princess ship the week before and they had left NY late. They were told that they received "bad fuel" or at least that is what they told the passengers. Maybe that was a precurser to the problem. We had really nasty storms last night and the temperature has dropped 10 degrees thank god!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Good morning, everyone:

Miserably hot here again today ... near 90. But oddly the predicted high for Saturday is 71. Welcome to Ohio! :guilty:

Wendy: Have a great trip! Can't wait to hear about it!
Lynn: That first pic of DS with his teddy was TOO cute!
Kathy: Any Minnie updates? How's she doing?

It would seem that the nanas are taking over some of your lives! Step AWAY from the bananas!

For those who have been to St. Thomas and St. Maarten, are there scooter rentals on either island?

I would have had a MAJOR heart attack if I was on that ship. It is a bit of a hidden phobia of mine to be trapped like that - or trapped in a car if it rolls into a pond etc etc. The stuff gives me nightmares. So, that would have been a horrible for me (as I am sure it was for those on board). I wonder if it actual gets leaning far enough whether it could roll?? I suppose so - it must be pretty top heavy?? Anyway, glad to hear most people were OK.

Hope all is well with everyone. Things are really busy at work and I am really looking forward to a vacation. DH is working all hours as there is a big car show this weekend that he is getting ready for....I havn't really seen him since before the weekend! Oh well, hoping for some together time soon!

Talk to you all soon. popcorn::

Howdy Turkeys!

OHMIGOSH - It's been way too long since I've checked the posts. I had to go back to page 72 to catch up. A big commitment of 1 1/2 hours. (I have dial up!)

But, welcome to our new Turkeys. Runa and PGFour. If you feel comfortable, I am keeping a spreadsheet with everyone's cabin numbers, real names, hometowns, kids' ages, neato facts...that kind of stuff. You can send me a PM if you'd like to be included.

So much in the last 20 page. Cute baby pictures, Coconuts(?), Lots of bananas      , a new doggie, I can't remember it all but glad to see everyone is doing well and counting down the days.

We were able to book our flight out on SW but I was really disappointed with the fare. $133 one way! I'm not sure if it's because it's the day after Thanksgiving, gas prices, or they're waiting to release the cheap dates. Anywho...I booked our tix and if the price drops, I'll take the credit and go visit one of my girlfriends for a ladies' weekend.

I think we're going to book our room at the new Residence Inn for the night before. I just need to figure out if we want to spend our Marriott Rewards on that or save them. Anyone else there besides Andy/Dandy?

SO excited to get our packet. Now, if I can get a chance to go through everything. I'm not sure what we're doing for excursions - need to figure that out.

Would LOVE to link ressies with the late diners.

Hope I can check in more often. We're starting to get very excited!

Stay cool!

Shell,
We have been on the Eastern three times before and I dont recall seeing scooter rentals. But who knows, I may of missed them :confused3 or perhaps they have them now. :goodvibes

Minnie has taken over the house. She makes her nightly rounds to check that everyone is in their beds, and when they are not she paces until they are where they are suppose to be. Our son often works late and gets home around 1:00 a.m.. She is an unhappy puppy on those days!! It is the same in the mornings. Once DH gets up at 5 a.m. everyone is suppose to get up!!
Plus we have found out she loves plain spaghetti noodles, bananas, watermelon and cherries once the pitts are removed. What a crazy doggie!!!

She did get scolded good the other day when I caught her chewing up a magazine in the loft!! She is very good at looking innocent :cloud9: when she is guilty. :rolleyes1
She is spoiled rotton already!!!
Have a great evening everyone,

Kathy

:wave2: Good Wednesday evening everyone...

Lynn, the baby is soooo cute.
Kathy: Jack, my dog loves spaghetti noodles too. Of course he will eat pretty much anything that were eating. And he also loves bananas   ....
Booked our transportation today. And I'm thinking of just paying off the darn trip in a week or two. :dance3: I want to feel like I have everything under control... which I'm sure I dont.

Have a great evening everyone

Denise

Woogal: We used Sunny Liston last September when we cruised to St. Thomas on the Magic. He is great! We have him booked for our visit in late November. Our cruising friends, Bob and Gitta, have never cruised and never been to St. Thomas. Sunny's day long tour will be a great way for them to see the island.

Fourfoxesinpa: We booked Air Tran out of Flint, MI. Leaving Friday after Thanksgiving and returning December 2. We got a rate of $228 RT. We booked in either Feb. or March. I check fares out of curiousity, and so far, there are no bargains if flying out of Flint or Detroit.

Have a great weekend everyone. Dave and I are heading to Mackinac Island for a little R&R.

Jan

Hi everyone....hope you're all doin well and standing up to the summer heat and the long (but well-worth-it) wait.

Bob...'preciate the ceremonial banana at the end of your post (think I didn't see that, eh???).

Wendy....have a great trip, if I didn't say so already----

Sarah...to answer your ??? Modern ships, even with malfunctioning stabilizers, according to several tech articles are virtually incapable of listing to the point of rolling. They're designed low and wide to prevent that sort of thing. No worries...

Anyhoo....enjoy the evening, everyone!
Bill

Hello everyone! It's "hump day"!!! :cool1:

Jamie, I'll get a PM to you sometime with the specifics of our family.

Wendy -- have a wonderful trip -- let us know details!

Kathy -- glad to hear Minnie is taking over!

Not much going on here -- we got a new air conditioner installed in our office. :thumbsup2 Doesn't take much to excite us insurance people these days!!!! :rotfl2:

Speaking of airfare, I can't even remember what our fare from Chicago is -- I have made it a point NOT to re-check it so I don't feel like I got a bad deal. We wanted to go out of Milwaukee for the convenience, but Midwest Express (who supposedly had great fares) had blocked out those dates for about a week. I had been watching prices out of O'Hare going up all week and finally just decided to get it over with! Plus, if there are weather issues, we have more opportunities to catch another flight. (Milwaukee is pretty limited.)

Who needs Vegas when you can gamble on flight & cruise prices???? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sure glad I wasn't on that cruise -- what a frightening experience it must've been. Hope everyone mends quickly. My SIL was on an Alaskan cruise a couple years ago and they had to make a "sharp" turn and a lot of the dishes, etc. went crashing -- don't think there were many injuries. Sorry Wendy, I suppose you didn't want to hear that. . .

Have a great night!

May your dreams be filled with      !

Cheri :yay:

:rolleyes1 Ok this is our first cruise. So we are both really excited.

DH works in the City of Chicago. We live about 50 miles SW of Chicago. He starts work at 6am. Takes the train. So he is up at 2am. Goes to bed between 6:30-7pm. :cheer2: (shhh dont tell him I was cheering about that)....So Monday evening I worked the later shift at work. Got home around 8:30pm. As I'm pulling into the garage, he comes out and greets me.
Ummm what are you doing up? I am watching Titanic. (this from a man who would not watch this movie, did not want any part of this movie.) Ummm ok, why? :confused3 I felt like watching it. Is this because were going on a cruise? Yes!
Ok, there are times I worry about him. Now all he has been talking about this evening is about the Carnival cruise ship. He worries that this will happen to us. Of course he was also worried we were going to hit an iceberg. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Denise

Good Thursday Morning To You All,
Shell- I think you can rent scooters in St. Maarten right when you get off the ship.
Kathy- Sounds like Minnie took over the house :thumbsup2 !!! My Mom's dog Rocky runs her house and eats anything he finds!! Sunday Morning he has Eggs and Bacon :dogdance: :dogdance: :dogdance: !!

Last night my friend called me and was soooo upset :sad2: because she was suppose to board the Crown Princess today. She was going on her Honeymoon. I felt so bad for the people on that boat when I was watching the news. How does a cruise line saw the movie Titanic the night before?? That would not be my choice of movies to see while on a cruise!!!

Today I am off to spend the day with my Mom because it is her 50th birthday. We are going to go shopping and buy DS Baptism outfit and then the family is meeting us for dinner. It going to be a nice day for my Mom    !!!

Talk to you all Tomorrow!!
Lynn princess:

Howdy everyone,
No real news from Florida today. We are like alot fo you, headed for a HOT day. Wish we would get our normal rain. we are 10 inches below normal where I live. I have to water everything all the time. I am dreading our water bill this month!!
Denise,
Tell your DH to stay away from the movies!!! It can be hazardous to his mental health, just before a cruise :rotfl2:
I cant swim, and I am afraid of small boats, so our first cruise my DH and DS gave me a hard time because from the terminal I wasnt sure if the Wonder was big enough for me to go on out in the ocean??? :confused3
But I loved it, and flet perfectly safe, hated the tender boats though.

Have a great day everyone,
kathy

OK....thats enough!!! My boss's son is going on his first cruise in Feburary (I helped talk him into it). He's scared to death that something horrible is going to happen. Denise, your DH is scared....I hear so many people talking about this. I read a lot about cruises these days and have always been interested in the big liners.

Is there risks? It'd be foolish to say cruising is risk-free... it's foolish to say flying is risk-free. The incidents aboard cruise ships vs. the vast number of voyages taken is insanely low. Ever get a new car? A make and model you never had before? Before you buy the thing, you never noticed them on the road and after the purchase, you see them everywhere. We are linked so completely to cruising, we're hyper-sensitive to cruise news so all the incidents are going to be under OUR microscope. Can't we get back to Lampy's coconut hooter covers, dancing nannys, fluffernutters and Minnie, the spoiled dog? (omg, that sounded like a grown up wrote it....what the heck is wrong with me?).

Anyways...have a great Thursday everyone....les' go cruisin!!!

Wow, amazing! The first time I posted was on 3/16, page 32, and now we're on page 99! Can you imagine what this board will be like in October??? :goodvibes

Jamie: Welcome back! I thought maybe you'd forgotten about us! Here's a nana for you

Kathy: Minnie has definitely found the right home! And it's obvious she found the right place seeing as how she has a banana fetish

Jan: Thank you, thank you for the confirmation on Sunny Liston! I'd love more details if you have a moment. PM or post.

Denise: :rotfl2: Don't let him watch POTC either or he'll start worrying about the ship being taken over by pirates on the cruise!
2765.gif

Lynn: Thanks for the scooter info ... and as always, have fun shopping :woohoo: !! (wish I had a Kohl's nana ...)

Cheri: My dreams lately have been filled with images of us "missing the boat" ... literally! Watching the Magic sail out without us on it! Gee, think there's some anxiety there??? :confused3

Cruisemutt: Oh, nevermind. I'll see you at home tonight. But here's DB to keep you going till then.

Not a SINGLE word about Bob. What about Bob? Huh? :confused3

Well, hopefully today is the last day in the upper 90s for a few days. Next week I begin traveling for work for a couple of weeks. I will still be in Georgia, just down in South Georgia where it gets even hotter! :headache:

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and having a wonderful week!

Woogal - I keep having the same dreams. What is up with that? At least its not the one where im naked in front of a crowd.

Happy Thursday.

Up at 2 a.m.??? He'd better change his schedule or he'll be getting breakfast as we at "Ron Bon Joni-ing" and YMCA-ing in the bar........LOL

True story.........6 weeks before our 1st sailing (feb 2000) my DDs watched titanic and asked "Dad where is our room" well we, being 1st time cruisers booked a cat. 11....cheepest........when I showed them they said "that is where the people got lcked in when the ship was sinking....at the bottom of the ship". I called DCL explained my situation and the bumped me to a cat. 6 for 50 bucks a person....that's the good news....bad is that we are so spoiled I can't book anything else.........

Or that one where you show up for class for the first time in a semester only to find out that it's the day of finals and you've never cracked open a book. That one kills me every time. :crazy2:
