It was great to hear from you again. :thumbsup2 It's been quite a long time since you last posted.
Your thread has really grown hasnt it??? :goodvibes
I am so glad you started it.
I am looking forward to seeing you and your DH again. :woohoo:
Time is flying by.

Kathy

Good Hump Day everyone ... Only one day to the 6-month mark!!!

Anyone have any American Idol predictions? I'm a Taylor fan, and I can't imagine a senario where he doesn't win. But them, I'm also a fan of Cleveland sports and you see how well that's worked for me over the years ... :sad2:

The past 2 years Southwest has opened through mid december at least around the 15th of July.
Of course I start checking obsessivly around the beginning of June, but it has been the 2nd thursday in July for 2 years now.

:hourglass

Thanks for the info Feenie. I've been checking obsessively for a month now..so now I guess I need to be a little more patient. I have ding on my computer at work and noticed it sent a notification last time they extended the dates. Well see...

Woogal.....TAYLOR ALL THE WAY!

DOWN with KAT!!!
(that is the slogan in our house!)
we wanted Chris to win, but we will be happy if Taylor wins!!

Hi Kathy!!
Work lately has been so busy I have time to lurk but not ususally time to post!!! Its the week before a holiday, so a bunch of the doc's are out for vacation!!! (more time for playing :cool1: )

I want Locke, Hurley and Jack to win.....oh....wait, thats the wrong show, isn't it? :rolleyes1

Happy Wednesday everyone!

American Idol is still on the air? Wow, guess I must have missed that in the TV Guide!

Let's see, my vote is for Clay Aiken!

Its Soul Patrol all the way at our house....we also wanted Chris but I'll take Taylor over that OTHER GIRL any day...Geaux Taylor :cheer2:
Send Pixie dust please DS is taking exams today and we have had a rough year after Katrina so we are hoping for the best..
Wendy

Four more members of Taylor's Soul Patrol here. :cool1: :smooth: I only could get 7 votes in for him last night. Busy, busy, busy.

And, back to this food talk...how's everyone feel about scrapple? (remember...I'm an Amish Country native)

And more about food...has anyone with late dining actually have their ressies linked yet? The FourFoxes have had a family meeting and decided we'd like to hang with y'all at dinner (despite these pictures we've seen!) :goodvibes

We do enjoy our fluffernutters in PA and, yes, sometimes they are tasty with a little sliced banana on them.

I, too, am waiting for Southwest to release their 11/24 dates! I have us all lined up to come home free on AirTran (courtesy of Wendy's cups!) but no tickets to Florida yet.

Six months tomorrow! Woo-Hoo.

BOYS! Let's get something straight: Jack, Hurley, Locke, and Clay Aiken are not eligible to become the next American Idol. Got it? You crazy nuts, you ...

Jamie: I think that Ron is doing something with linking the ressies ... or that's what I've heard. We'll have to see if he appears here again and ask. Also, I'm from Ohio Amish Country ... You gotta love a culture that figures that a good meal consists of mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and noodles all at the same sitting!!!

Ok guys,
your not going to believe this but:

I have NEVER watched american idol!!! Not ever :confused3

Of course I have heard of the show and seen the commercials, but i swear I have never watched it.

Please dont vote me off this board :rotfl2:

Kathy

Sorry Jamie.... I lived near Philadelphia for awhile. I KNOW what goes into most commercial scrapple. I'm gonna pass on that, if its ok. (btw...I really did love the taste of it until I found out what it was made of). Ok...speaking of food---this is to all the 7 day eastern and western vets. Are the international buffets (asian and I think a mexican or southwest is it?) at the parrot cay any good?
Bill

Jamie: Ron (Lampskies) did mention that he might possibly have a connection that would be able to link our ressies AND get us the PLA rotation. But, he said we probably won't need to do anything until October or early November.

As for as the scrapple, I promised I wouldn't bring chitlins into the challenge, so don't be bringing no scrapple! As I told a co-worker in France who wanted me to try foie gras..."I don't do organs and innards." :rotfl2:

I'm with you on this one!! I don't care how good it may taste!!

Well, we're leaving to WDW tomorrow morning so I'll miss all the antics of this thread :guilty: But I'm sure I'll still have a good time :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a great Memorial weekend!

:wave2: ,

Six months tomorrow! Woo-Hoo.

SCRAPPLE! Danielle and I went to York College of PA. Since we are Long Island born and raised we had no idea what it was. I will never forget the first time I saw this old timer eating it at a dinner in PA. I had to ask one of my PA friends what the heck is that guy eating. After he told me about scrapple I didnt feel any better about it. I did try it once. I guess its an aquired taste.
:crazy2:

Not picking on Andy here, but this phrase is what gets me about some foods. If someone tells you a food is "an acquired taste", it means that the first time you put it in your mouth, you will gag and want to spit it out. Then, after eating it hundreds of times, your taste buds will be so numbed that they can't pick up the flavor of anything anymore! :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is having a great week! It is officially 6 months until we embark! :bounce:

Okay, since we have gotten to know each other here, I want to ask a question. Have any of you ever owned a Monte Carlo (2002 or newer)? DW and I went and looked at one last night. It is a gorgeous vehicle, but I don't know anyone who has owned one, so I thought I would ask here.

So, if you have owned one, or know someone who has, and can give me some feedback, it would be appreciated!

Tiggerking,

I think an aquired taste means it was fed to you as a little kid and mom and dad made you eat it, so eventually you just got use to it!! Like peas and green beans!! I was lucky and had a dog that whoofed things down so fast he never tasted what he was being given. So my plate was always pretty clean. My dad was a farm boy, he loved pickled pigs feet, head cheese etc...Lucky for us kids, mom was not a farm girl and she intervened a lot a meal time!!!

we had a monte carlo, but it was in the mid 70's and we loved it!! Never had a new one. Sorry I cant help you with that one, but I will ask DH if he knows anyone at work that has one. He knows lots of people in his line of work.

Today is a landmark for our cruise!!!
6 months :woohoo:

Time to :dancer: party: :dancer: to celebrate today!!

Kathy

HAPPY 6 MONTH TO THE CRUISE DAY!!!

The Mutt and I learned a long time ago that we don't trust nor buy domestic cars! We just traded in both of our Camry's over the last year for a Solara (his) and a Rav4 (mine). Do yourselves a favor and go find a nice Toyota, which will last 10X as long and be virtually maintenance-free. Even if it has over 50K miles, that's equivalent to about 20K or less on a domestic car. Now aren't you glad you asked??? :thumbsup2

acquired taste n.One that is unpleasant on immediate experience or is likeable only after being experienced repeatedly ... or with enough wine in your system so that you forget what you're really eating. (That's how I came to eat escargot in Paris ... after a few glasses!)

Well, DW and I currently own a 91 Accord (204,000 miles), a 96 Accord (176,000 miles) and an Explorer (180,000 miles)! My motorcycle has the lowest miles of any vehicle we own (it only has 2800 miles). I love the Toyotas and the Hondas, and DW REALLY likes the Solara convertibles, but I REALLY like the look of the new Monte Carlos. Consumer Reports actually rates them pretty decent for a Chevrolet. We will see what happens. I emailed a low-ball offer to the salesman this morning to see where we stand. I think we are overdue for a new(er) vehicle, but as stated before, I am extremely cheap and have to find the right deal!
