Wild sports predictions thread 2024 edition. Every week say what crazy sports related thing you think will happen up until 2025.

Buzz's predictions:

1. 5 Disboarders who are not soccer fans will become one.

2. Team USA will win the gold medal race in the 2024 Olympics this summer.

3. An American will come in at least third place in the 2024 Tour de France.

4. At least 2 NY professional sports teams will a national championship this year.

5. A famous athlete from one professional sports league will become another household name for transferring into a completely different sport.

I think they use total medals, not just gold. Here's the "Official" Medal Table from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics... Source

Notice UK & Japan both have more Gold Medals than ROC, but since ROC has more total medals, they're "ranked" ahead.

I think if you want to use medal count, then assign point values... Gold = 3 pts, Silver = 2 pts, Bronze = 1 point.

I also don't like medal counts to begin with. Because they favor countries with a lot of athletes. How about you rank by the percentage of athletes that get medals?
