I was a little on the fence about this new tour until I read the recent blog and that pushed me over the edge! I have booked our tour for it May 3 @ 10am.... so excited! :cool1: Anyone else book it?

47 days until The World and 49 until The Trek!

I read the review of this tour. It sounds very interesting. Was your cost $189? Can you come back and tell us about this tour.

yeah... $189 per person (which includes a $145 photo pass CD of pictures taken by a CM)

I would be happy to post my thoughts when I get back...

We went on the Wild Africa Trek back in January when they were offering the intro price of $129....we absolutely loved the tour....our tour departed at 1 pm and we got some fabulous shots of the lions!!!!! The rope bridge was awesome and even my 75 year old Mom had a blast on the tour!!!!!! I highly recommend the tour....we LOVED our photo CD that we got....great photos of the animals and of our tour in general. One thing to note is that the photo CD is one per family.

I was wondering about the cost. $189 is pretty pricey. We were there in Jan, and we saw a group on the tour, and could see some of the look out platforms. Looked pretty cool. Something to think about for Aug. I wonder what kind of AP discount I can get

I am an AP holder... no discount... :confused3

It sounds like a lot of fun, but $189 is just too steep for us (and there's only 2 of us!). I can't imagine how a family of 4 or more could afford it. I only hope that after the initial popularity dies down we'll see a reduction in the cost.

From the blog, it looks like you have some kind of meal. Did you have one and if so what was it?

I called and they are only booking up to June.

Yes, we had a light meal. What you get depends on whether you on on a morning or afternoon departure. We were on the afternoon departure and we had melon, salmon, hummus, curried chicken, shrimp, some sliced meat (I think proscuto (sp?) and some pitas. We had one young boy on our tour and I noticed he had "kid friendly" food.

We did this the first week it was available back in January. It was the highlight of our trip but we got the introductory price of $129. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't spend $189 for it. We were there in the morning and had yogurt, cheese, salmon etc. It was more like a selection of appetizers as opposed to a "meal". It was really nice looking out over the savannah as we ate. :)

Someone on the Dining Thread mentioned he is booked (he didn't mention the dates) was paying $249/pp for this tour. When I called they were only booking to June. The tour started at $129, then $189 and now $249. At that price, I don't think I will be booking.

Is the Photopass CD the same as the one you can collect you pictures taken in the parks too? I ask as DH and I are thinking of taking this tour (if the price goes back down to reasonable) and we were not going to purchase the Photopass CD for this trip since it is just the two of us. It would be useful if you could add photos from your entire trip to it like the regular Photopass CD.

Thank you,

Remmy:flower3:

I can't answer your question. We were only at WDW for a few days before our Dream cruise so we didn't have any other Photopass pictures taken.

Thank you for the reply. I will have to ask next time we go down. It is good to read that your 75 year old mom could do the tour. From the Safari vantage point it seemed to me, some of the bridges looked like they had huge gaps missing in them. I will gather up the courage to go on it now.:goodvibes

We are thinking of doing it for something special for our anniversary trip. It sounds wonderful.

While there are gaps on the bridges they are not that huge that you cannot safely step over the gap..plus you are wearing a harness so if you were to "miss" the harness would grab you. There are nets all under the bridges as well.

P.s. Although my Mom is 75, she is very active...she told everyone on our excursion that she was training for the Amazing Race!!!!

I saw someone mention on another site under their reviews for this tour that they were able to put on additional pictures (from EPCOT in their example) before ordering the photopass CD.
