Wild Africa trek - age requirement?

Based on reviews here, I was very excited to book the Wild Africa Trek for our family - 2 adults plus dd10 and ds7. Sadly, when I called to book today, I was told by the CM that my son is too young (he's 7) to go on the adventure as the minimum age is 8. I Was pretty disappointed.

Has anyone ever taken a child under 8 on WAT?

No, but I do know it seems like most of the extra tours have age minimums. I've looked into a lot of them for us and there were only a couple that our family could do with 4 and 7 year olds. It's a bummer because I think all of us would really enjoy them.

Thanks I understand and respect the age requirement. It's unfortunate as my son is very tall and mature for his age. I just didn't know how hard of a rule it was or more of a guideline. Sounds like the former.

The rule has nothing to do with height or maturity, it is based on insurance requirements. It's not just a guideline.
