Wild Africa Trek advice

We want to do the Wild Africa Trek on our June trip.

Our flight departs at 6:55 pm on our check out day. I am thinking we could do this that day. It lists 10:15 am as one time option. It includes food that I believe could be our lunch.

We could do it another day but I wanted to keep one day more open so we could add in things we want to do last minute, or even just rest mid vacation.

Is this doable?
What cons might there be doing this tour on the last day?
Thanks,

I don't know that there are any cons to doing it on your last day other than: (1) if it got cancelled for any reason (can't think of one but who knows) you don't have the opportunity to reschedule (which might not be an option any other day too but - again, who knows); and (2) luggage storage & pick-up before going to the airport. I think it takes about 3 hours so you'd be finished by about no later than 2 (giving time to put all of the gear on and take off). We did a ours about 11:30 I think and the food was billed as a snack but I found it filling enough to consider it lunch, especially if you've had breakfast.

My only concern would be showering afterwards. Now, I did the tour in mid-August so the heat was brutal but as soon as I was done all I wanted to do was shower.

I agree it gets pretty sweaty especially in the summer. You're mostly on your feet trekking in the savanna. If your last day is the only opportunity to do the tour, then I would still recommend it. I think it's probably one of the best tours offered. You might want to schedule your tour earlier in the day so it's not as hot and you'll have to time to cool off afterward.

I think it's totally doable. You will be out in plenty of time to get DME back to the airport. You can leave your luggage with bell services in the morning. If you are concerned about getting sweaty, you could always pack some extra clothes in a day-bag and change/wash-up a little before your flight. If you are staying in a resort that offers showers in the pool or fitness center area, you can always freshen up there (we do this at BWI/BWV if we swim on our last day before our flight but after check-out). Other than the tour potentially being cancelled for some reason, I really see no downside on this. We've done the trek and, yes, the food is fairly plentiful and really tasty.

We are doing this tour for the first time in July and we purposely scheduled the very first tour of the day before the park actually opens because we figured it is going to be ridiculously hot. I don't know that I would want to do the tour later in the day even if I had the opportunity to shower or cool off in the pool.

Do note that the tour goes rain or shine, UNLESS there is lightning in the area, in which case they do cancel. That would be a major disappointment should this be the last fun thing on your vacation.

Thanks for all the replies. We usually just head to Disney Springs on the last day for lunch. I thought it might be nice to have something more to look forward to on the last day as it is always a bummer to leave.
I am concerned about the heat.
I could move it to another morning but it is the morning I have planned as a sleep in day.
I need to go back over all of my plans and decide.

You could return to your resort afterwards, and shower by the pool and even take a swim after that, and relax.

I did it last year. The lunch is really a snack, I wouldn't consider it a full lunch. You may want to pick something up before you leave WDW or at the airport.
