Wii vs XBox 360 vs Playstation- argh!!!

:yay: I found one at Sam's Club online! :dance3: I used my FIL's membership and scored one for $249 plus $8 in shipping which I would have easily spent in gas driving all over.

:thanks: for everyone's help!

I went to Curcuit City online and they were sold out but anyone looking Sam's online has them!

Now onto finding extra controllers thingies. :confused3

YAY.. Everything else is cake from this point forward. Pretty much anyplace that sells the console will have probably everything else in stock :)

Glad you didnt pull the trigger on the ebay or one of the package deals..

:thanks: I tried to get one on ebay last night and thankfully I was outbid at $350. :scared1: Can you imagine? I am extremely pleased right now. Those people buying extra and ebaying them must be making a fortune!

Congrats on the new acquisition! I'm sure it'll be fun for the whole family. :thumbsup2

Well I'll admit, the thought did cross my mind when I was looking a cpl of months ago and found some in stock at target.. I mean, if folks are willing to pay.... But I was a nice person and left them and hopefully someone like you got to buy the others that were there :)

Sam's Club only lets you buy one per membership I think to avoid all of the scapling and what not!. :thumbsup2

I LOVE THIS FORUM!!! I had not even considered getting a WII for my son (almost 5) because I thought he was too young. After reading the posts, I decided it would be a fun thing for the family. I lucked out today and went into a Game Crazy (like Game Stop) and asked when they might expect more in... he said they just got 2 in! I nabbed it and now have my son's main gift for Christmas!!! Now I just have to decide if we get him a puppy for Christmas and keep the Wii for his birthday!

I was telling my husband about it and he said, "I thought you were against video games," I commented that it looked like something fun for us to do together. His comment, "Man, their marketing really worked on you!" LOL

:goodvibes I am glad you are getting one. I would save the puppy for his birthday. From experience, I have found that the holidays are too busy to be trying to train a new puppy.

Hi,Jenny!:goodvibes I was lurking around and found this thread....now you have made me want a Wii!:scared1: Tyler has loved his PS2 and it has recently broken. My nephew told him to ask for a Wii for Christmas and he told him he didn't want to ask for something so expensive....

BTW,I know NOTHING about the Wii but Peyton went to a friend's house and they played the Wii for 8 hours straight and he couldn't lift his arm the next day at baseball practice.:rotfl2: Guess it is good exercise...

 Hi Amy! :lmao: 8 hours? :faint: He must have been so sore! You can still get them for $249 but they are going fast. I would buy one now and return it if you change your mind.

Not a gaming expert by far but chalk us up for a Wii!:cool1: The kids are getting that for Christmas. We have a gamecube which has appropriate games for the kids. I'm still confused as to what all I need to go with the Wii. Still have to research that out!

Thinking of your children's ages, I don't recommend the 360 at all. It really is a system for the older set.

I don't have a PS3, but I have a PS and PS2. We have been very happy with both. There are LOTS of games for all ages.

My overall vote goes to the Wii. It's VERY family friendly and TONS of fun! :thumbsup2

If you're looking for games or anything pertaining to them try to find a GameStop in your area. We LOVE ours!

I am still a Wii newbie, totally, but this is what I did:

I bought the Wii system which comes with 5 sports games, not A list games but games none the less. It also comes with one Wii remote or Wiimote, I love that :lmao: It also came with one nunchuck. I bought an additional Wiimote and nunchuck. The Wiimote came in a package with 9 additional games. Again, not A list games, but fun anyway. So, the Wii was $250, the extra Wiimote with 9 games was $50, and the extra nunchuck was $20. I hope that helps. This is like learning a new language. :crazy2:

:thumbsup2 I just recently visited my first Game Stop and they were VERY helpful. I talked to the young man for about 30 minutes, in between customers, about the different systems and the value of a Wii. While he said it's not his favorite system, he's a REAL gamer ;), he thought it the best system and value for my family, and ::yes:: they had other systems in stock. I will go back there for all of our gaming needs, well at least next time after Toys R Us's Buy 2 Get 1 Free is over tonight. :goodvibes

My parents said today that they were tired of buying the kids a bunch of little things and were thinking of buying them one gift to share.Of course I suggested the Wii!:cheer2: They are going to think about it and let me know.....

:cheer2: That would be awesome! My very wealthy inlaws said they be spending $25 per grandkid this year. They have 6. I suppose that is why they are wealthy and I will never be. ;) :lmao:

::yes:: the bowling is one of them. Also comes with baseball, tennis, golf, and boxing!

We are a Wii family and everyone loves it! We even take it with us when we travel back to Ohio and it's always so much fun. You can get up and be active -sorta - and the Mii's are a BLAST! DS is 3 1/2 and DD is 5, but there are plenty of games they can play just fine. Definitely would recommend this for others, if you can find one.

Also any pros or cons about having a game system in general. :thumbsup2

:thanks:

We have all three of the game systems you mentioned.

DH & DS9 are addicted.

The X-Box 360 has given us the most difficulty (malfunctioning issues) & has had to be sent back a few times for repairs.

My parents aren't wealthy but they have 8 granchildren and spend about $100 each on them.YAY:yay: the bowling!MY DH is sceptical of the whole thing because he is convinced we would need to spend alot on games right away. But Tyler's PS2 is broken and by the time we bought a new one we could pay half on the Wii...

What games does your 3 1/2 play?If we buy one my DD3 could get a game for her birthday...

Which games do your children like the best? My DS is almost 5 and I am trying to figure out which games he will be able to do!

My just turned 6 yr old likes the sports games the best- they seem to be the easiest to play. He actually likes the one that comes with the system. He also likes the cooking mama game. We bought cars- but the wii version is a little rough to figure out. We have rented:
Spongebob- i thought tough but we aren't big gamers
Paper Mario- a lot of reading.
Another Mario game- which was great
I like using the game cube games on it as well- lego starwars is a huge hit, as are the original mario brothers games.
