Wii vs XBox 360 vs Playstation- argh!!!

My just turned 6 yr old likes the sports games the best- they seem to be the easiest to play. He actually likes the one that comes with the system. He also likes the cooking mama game. We bought cars- but the wii version is a little rough to figure out. We have rented:
Spongebob- i thought tough but we aren't big gamers
Paper Mario- a lot of reading.
Another Mario game- which was great
I like using the game cube games on it as well- lego starwars is a huge hit, as are the original mario brothers games.

When you use the Game Cube games on it, do you use the remote that comes with the system, or do you have to use the more traditional looking remote? I did not realize you could play those games on the Wii! GREAT... something else to think about! LOL

We use the regular wii remotes and you just use them the "old fashioned" way

The PS2 is still getting serious play in our home. It might be that I refuse to part with the cash, but there are still a TON of games that I haven't played. And the fact that you can still buy new PS2 games (in addition to pre-owned games via Game Stop, eBay, and the like) is a big plus for me. Remember, after you buy any of the new consoles, you still need to pony up for the extra controllers and games (usually to the tune of fifty to sixty bucks a pop).

As to the OP's dilemma, I think when I get ready to buy in to the "next gen" consoles, it'll probably be a Wii. I like the fact that its a lot easier on the pocket, family friendly, and backward compatiable with all of the old Gamecube discs. Can you say "more untapped games on the cheap" ? Good luck with your struggle. The gaming is a great way for this thirtysomething to bond with DS5. We are gaming buddies on everything from Ratchet and Clank to DDR. Let's face it, how many things do they want to do with the parents as they get older ?
