Hello!

My son is really pushing for a Wii for Christmas this year. Problem is, we have very limited space in our living space. I could set up the Wii in the basement, where there is a lot more room, but the TV in the basement is tiny (13"). Does anyone have a Wii with limited space or a small TV? Do you lose something in the experience? Any advice is greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance!!!

We have a medium sized TV, in a very small space (8 X 10 ft room) with our Wii. It's kind of hard to do some of the more active games, but the tv is good enough for the games.

Not sure of the exact tv size, will measure and let you know.

I think it would be hard on a 13" TV but you probably can do it in a small room. You just need to be able to stand in front of the TV about 6-8 feet away.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not need a lot of room for a Wii. As evidence, simply look at the number of nursing homes that use it for activity. While it's tempting to perform the full bowling move, or swing a baseball bat, in reality all you need is a snap of the wrist. The motion sensor sees both moves the same way.

My 2 kids stand while playing the Wii, but I prefer to sit on the sofa. either is fine, so you don't need to worry about room.

Also, for single player action, a 13 inch tv would be okay. But, if you play multiple players on a split screen, the small tv makes it much more difficult to see.

I've seen some really great sales recently on some slightly larger tv's - like a 19" lcd for about $169 or so. I know if makes for an expensive gift, but just thought I'd pass it along.

I think you'd be fine in a smaller room, too. We have one, but honestly we haven't played it too much. The bowling was a hit with the adults, though! Remember to stock up on batteries for the remotes, maybe rechargeable ones. When we do play it, seems like they are constantly needing batteries.
