Was just getting ready to get a Wii for Christmas but now there is Kinect (xbox?)coming out and also there is (Playstation ?) Move.

What would be best for a 9 yr old girl who would love dance games and could use games that were as good as exercising?

She does dance twice a week and tumbling twice a week but otherwise doesn't get as much activity as she would like.

The Kinect is for Xbox 360. It is what we bought. I've just played it for 20 minutes (I just set it up today), and I highly recommend it. The technology is there. And the dance games look great, as do the the other games and "personal trainer" apps. We just purchased about 5 Kinect apps to go along with our other Xbox 360 games.

Right now we're chillin' just listening to the latest new music releases in the Zune marketplace. Great stuff.

What? No PS3 with the superior graphics and blu ray? Or you are going to say you have that to?;)

Explain this graphic ad bicker....It says for a limited time.:confused3

I suspect that they mean that that package at that price is available for a limited time.

Xbox with Kinect is all we need.

if you have a 360, get the Kinect.
If you have a PS3, get Move.
If you have neither, get a Wii.

I ONLY say this as the library of games are already there, and the other two systems with MOVE or Kinect are twice the cost of the wii.

I have the Wii and Xbox Kinect. So far, I like the Kinect better for moving type things. Such as fitness and dancing. It shows you exactly what you are doing as you are doing it. And your hands are free.

However, I do recommend that you do not play volleyball underneath a ceiling fan. :lmao: I currently have one light to replace.

We have a Wii, 2 xbox 360's (one with Kinect, and one without), a PS3, a PSP, and a Nintendo DS. We love them all, and all for different reasons. They all have different games and different types of play. We take the PSP when we travel and we watch movies on it. Also my DH plays games on it when we travel. I take the DS on trips for myself so I can play games.

We use the PS3 a lot for home media. It is like our home media hub. We watch lots of movies on it, Blue Ray as well as non Blue Ray. DH also likes to play certain games on the PS3 because he thinks the graphic are better.

We like to play things together mostly on the xbox. I am a slow learner when it comes to controllers and the xbox was easier for me to pick up than the PS3 and there are a good handful of Xbox 360 games that we have fun playing together. I also have a couple of just "me" games that I like to play on the Xbox 360.

As for the Wii, we have some racing games, some cooking challenge games, big brain academy, mario party games, and exercise type games. We had a lot of fun with that when we first got it. Now it is up in our home gym to be used for Yoga, but sooooon I will dust it off and get to play Epic Mickey on it when it is released! I am so excited for that!

We just got the Kinect today and so far it is a lot of fun! We used it for a couple of hours this morning and we're both already sore. DH is having a lot of fun with the Thai Chi portion of the exercise game that we bought to go with it. It was very funny watching him strike those poses.

All the systems have their pros and cons, but we enjoy them all! :goodvibes

You are preaching to the wrong person. I was making fun of bicker because I was surprised he HAD a XBOX over a PS3, that is all. ;):lmao:

I am sure the Kinect is fun but man, I cannot stomach the price. 150 for the system and then the games are 50.:scared:

My 14yodd would kill for that animal game. Maybe next year.

I have a Wii and an XBOX, just no PS3 because I do not have an HDTV, so I feel no point to getting the PS3 right now. When we get our HDTV in 5yrs then I will get a PS3.

I about keeled over watching my husband doing the hoola hoop one. :rotfl2:

My eldest actually stood up for 1-1/2 playing that animal game. He's normally planted on his tush in front of a screen, any screen. ;)

Hmmmm didn't mean to preach....doesn't matter to me what people want to have. Just sharing. :flower3:

It was a joke to bicker. I guess you don't get that?:lmao:He is our resident electronics guru.

No I don't keep track of anything about anyone. Had no idea. Just thought we were sharing with the OP who wanted to know about game systems.

Then why did you quote me? You directed your post to me as if to inform ME that people play different game systems for different reasons which I already know because I am a gamer.

Good gravy I dunno! You said something about the PS3 and it caught my eye. I really wasn't paying that much attention. Skim....skim...PS3....hey I have a PS3...I think I'll type something about it.....

Didn't expect the spanish inquisition. :hippie:

I know, I was saying the same thing.

You also have to be 6 -10 ft away from the motion sensor. That is a problem for us in a small family room.

We did get one and will have to figure something out. Got ours at Costco for $139. and the games were $10 cheaper as well. Now I have two since I bought one at Best Buy for $149. Maybe I should keep the second one and wait to see what happens when they are not around at Christmas time. :lmao:

I have a PS3 Move and Wii. I also have a XBOX 360 and I ordered the Kinect from Amazon today. So far I love the Move and Wii. Just Dance and DDR work pretty good with the Wii. The Move has some unique games and the volleyball one is pretty fun to play.

Though you'd have the same problem with any of the "get off the couch" set-ups.

We found that our family room is almost perfect for the Kinect. We really thought it would be too small, but it turns out that standing in the back corners during tuning gets us a "too far away" warning.

We just moved the couch from along the wall to be perpendicular instead. It works out pretty well in our little family room too. We even have enough room for the two player games without hitting any furniture.

We now have to walk around the couch from the kitchen to get to it, but it is really still less steps. :)
