 our wii system is broken!!! DS3 used it as a piggy bank:mad: we managed to get all of the coins out and it worked for a couple of days. Now it will not read any of the disks. We ordered a lens cleaner kit from nintendo hoping that might work(it was only 10 bucks so we decided to give it a try). Used it this morning with no luck. Do you think we should try to get it repaired vs. Buying a used one. I'm not really sure where to begin looking or what to expect to pay for repair or replacement. Any ideas?

Try getting it repaired. We had 2 Wii's that the disc readers stopped working (not sure why they stopped working) but called Nintendo and they replaced both drives for $99, so it is approx $50 to do one. Nintendo emailed a shipping label too so that was included in that price. I received both wiis back in about 10 days and they both work perfectly fine! Good luck. Hopefully yours is as easy to repair and the same or less in cost.

Thanks, I will call them! Definitely sounds like a better option than replacing:)

Have you tried resetting it? Ours goes out all the time and you have to unplug everything (all cords going to the wii and turn power strip off) for 30 minutes then plug
it back in.

Granted, we've never used ours as a "piggy bank" :). But it does go out a lot :)

We actually had to evacuate for Irene and my husband unplugged all the electronics before we left, so it was off for more than 24 hours. Thanks for the suggestion!
Can't imagine why you haven't tried the piggy bank thing!:rotfl2:
