Can anyone recommend Wii games for 8 and 10 year old girls?

How about a Wii tennis game for an adult who used to play a lot but is now a couch potato?

Is there just one type of Wii controller, or do some games require a special type of controller? I heard that some games require a "balance board."

My 6yo DD is addicted to some Mario baseball game (I'm sure that will eventually fizzle out).

Can't help you on the tennis game, but for the controller...

There is a basic Wiimote. A 'nunchuck' gets attached to the Wiimote for certain games (the games will indicate on the box if it's needed). There is a 'balance board' for some games. The Wiimote can be slid into various 'forms' (steering wheel, golf club, baseball bat, pistol, etc). Of course, everything costs $$$

The overwhelming majority of games do not require the balance board.

Not sure what games you already have, but...

Just Dance 3
Mario Kart
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Animal Crossing: City Folk
Epic Mickey

The Wii balance board isn't required like the previous poster said. I love Animail Crossing too. That requires a numchuck and a regular remote. Just Dance 2 is really fun, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Resort is really fun also.

I thought Epic Mickey was really hard.

If you're referring to me, I never said it was required. However, it is needed for SOME games, which will be indicated on the box for the game.

DD8 and DS6 love Just Dance 2 and Just Dance 3 and the Mario Sports one is fun because they can play Volleyball, Hockey etc.

As far as tennis games, Wii Sports has a tennis game in there, and EA Sports released Grand Slam Tennis for the Wii a couple of years ago. (There is a Grand Slam Tennis 2 coming out next year...just not for the Wii.)

And how about Toy Story Midway Mania for the kids?

I have 2 DDs. (DD8 & DD10). They love most all of the Mario games (esp New Super Mario Bros), all 3 Just Dance games, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Disney's Guilty Party.

Just Dance (adult and kid versions)
Disney's Guilty Party (saw this in clearance section at Target yesterday)
Wii Party
Kirby's Epic Yarn

My girls enjoy:
Wii Party (this has probably gotten the most play of anything)
Toy Story Mania
Just Dance
Wii Sports
Mario & Sonic summer olympics

Pretty much anything Mario is going to be good. We've found that some games based on a movie aren't as good, i.e. Barbie & The Three Musketeers is just frustrating.

As other poster's said, Kirby's Epic Yarn is really cute, I love the pastel graphics in that game. There is also a new one, Kirby's Dreamland, that my kids are asking for.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but are there any games out there that would be similar to Wii Party?

My 2 dd's (8&10, but i'm not OP, lol) love to play with 2 neighborhood girls, so looking for a game that the 4 of them could play together. They LOVE Wii Party, but wanting to get them something else to play also.

We have a couple of the singing ones and those don't get played much.. have Mario Kart (played occasionally)... plus a bunch that are geared just for 2-3 people (so usually not played when it's all 4 of them here).

Any suggestions on fun ones to play for girls this age?

Endless Ocean Blue World--its a diving simulator game. You swim around, explore ruins, catalog fish, and populate a private coral reef and a public aquarium. It only requires a standard Wii remote controller and nunchuk to play, and as long as your children can read, they can play it. There's a simple plot in the game about finding an ocean dragon and sunken treasure, and its a game that people of all ages can play.

Subscribing ... dd8 wants a Wii from Santa, so looking for game ideas also. She has enjoyed playing a lot of the sports games at her aunt's house (she loves the fencing one!).

You're not hijacking -- that's a good question.

(And thanks to everyone for the suggestions.)
