Has anyone actually lost weight with this or is it just another game? I don't want to spend money on the Wii if the Wii Fit Plus won't help us to lose weight.

I just got Wii Fit Plus for my bday (last week). I really like it. If I could find the time to do it more often I believe I could lose weight. I was sore the day after I did it for the first time, but I don't get much exercise in my normal life, so that should tell you something.

I have Wii Fit and Wii Active and I did it almost every day during the summer. I lost some weight, but mainly I toned up. If you stick with it and eat right, it's a fun way to loose weight IMO.

I think that if you really stick with a plan or should I say create a plan that includes a healthy eating habit, then yes you will lose weight.

I also found that not weighing in every day was better as well. I did every other day or every 2 days.

You also have to spend at least an hour and it should be the more rigorous exercises or else you won't see any change.

I can definately say it will help you tone up.

The new Wii Plus is great and I have only had it a week and after trying out this new Obstacle Course and the Flying Chicken it is pretty fun and its good exercise.

If you really want to lose alot then do the Hula Hoop for 6 minutes or maybe 10 but do it for a half hour straight then you will really see results.....however you will be very sore the next day.

I did the difficult boxing and my arms were SO sore the next day.

I enjoy it because I hate the gym.

We have the Wii Fit. I really want the Fit Plus but I am 8 months pregnant and can't use it. Anyway, I used Wii Fit as my exercise plan and was losing weight on it. I would do the step aerobics. I would watch a half hour tv show while I was doing the steps. I got up to 4000 steps in a half hour before I found out I was pregnant. I want the Wii Fit for variety. I also have the Jillian Michaels game. I can never get it to respond but do the exercise on it anyway. That game kills me. Within ten minutes I was ready to drop. I just wish it would have responded so I knew what my scores were.

We've had one for a month. We haven't lost much weight because we haven't been dieting at all and eating too much Halloween candy. However, we are working out religiously on it and notice that we are getting more toned and developing better posture.

We do it for long periods of time, about an hour a day, and oftentimes add wrist weights to arm exercises. I don't think you could really notice a difference in your body just by doing Wii Fit Plus casually and you've got to combine diet with the exercise to lose significant weight. I think if you have the discipline to really push yourself with it and eat healthy as well, it could work. We work up a sweat on it, have found new muscles by being sore after we started, and we really have fun on it. Even after a month, we're all lining up for our turns and can never get enough time on it. Of course, we're competitive and we're always trying to beat each other's scores on everything!

Thanks everyone.

We are already eating healthy and we either walk or ride the exercise bike, but I wanted something for variety. DH is competitive and I thought it may give us motivation to beat each other's scores.

We have the Wii Fit but not the Plus game. I rarely use it in the summertime but I have found that in the winter, I really can become a couch potato. While I might not get off the couch to work out, I will get up to play a few games on Wii Fit. Once I make that initial move, then I have the energy and motivation to continue with a regular workout. So, it works pretty well for me as that impetus to get my behind off the couch when it's dark and dreary and I just want to hibernate. :lmao:

A parent (who happens to be a physician) came into our school the other day and I hadn't seen her since the end of last year. She obviously had lost weight and looked great. I'd say at the end of last year she could have stood to lose around 15 to 20 lbs. She looks like she's done it.

I told her she looked good and asked if she'd lost weight. She was in a hurry to the office, but quickly responded, "Wii fit. I love it." :)

I'm wanting to get it, too.

I am thinking I would really like to get one. The games sound fun and in the winter I need all the motivation I can get!

I read a lot of positive comments about the fit plus on Amazon.

It is just a lot of $$$$ to spend.

I love it. I'm pretty active during the warmer months but I tend to hibernate through our long winters, and with a toddler and no gym with childcare in the town I live in, working out at home is my only practical option. I've never been a fan of workout videos and they get to feel like a chore after a few days, but the Fit is a lot of fun and I look forward to getting on it every morning.

I do think I'm going to invest in the platform for the balance board, to make the step workout more intense, because the itty bitty balance board just isn't challenging enough IMO. I do a half hour of free step while watching the news, and I'd like to ramp it up a bit.

Thanks everyone.

My DN (when she lives with us) and I were constantly trying to beat each others scores........sadly, since she left I haven;t touched it......

If you are that competetive, I say go for it!

Please help a tech-challenged mom:

I just bought the Wii Fit Plus yesterday -- I intend it to be my girls' big Santa present. I read the box, but I'm still not sure: Is everything I need in that $99 box, or do I need a game in addition to this?

Obviously, we already have the Wii. Are our standard hand controls needed?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Denine, the Wii definitely got Ted and I up and moving last winter. I can see you guys using it and having fun at the same time. I feel that with you watching your food intake and staying active would be at perfect recipe for weight loss.

Yes, everything you need will be in the box. It should include the balance board and game and then you use your original wii-mote and nunchuck

We love ours! I think you could loose weight if you add it as part of a good diet.

I think you could conceivably lose weight with this game but the amount of calories you burn per hour is pretty pitiful. I would say that at a best guess you could probably burn ~200 calories per hour if you really worked hard at it. By comparison, I burned 250 calories in just over 20 minutes with Wii Sports Active. Clearly this is a much more efficient approach than the Wii Fit titles. I have Wii Fit Plus and use it, but more for the Yoga stretching and core strenght building. I find it a good "off day" program for the rest days in the Wii Sports Active 30 day routines.

All this being said, 30 minutes of steady running is typically worth about 500 calories so none of these games are going to take the place of a serious cardio workout. But since I don't seem to have the lung capacity for a 30 minute session of serious cardio at this time, the Wii games are working perfectly for me.

Good luck and enjoy. Both games are a fun way to get some exercise in.

By using the yoga and core strength training, you're building some muscle and that is going to help boost your metabolism, and you'll burn calories. You WILL lose weight if you follow some sort of exercise program on the Wii. Wii Fit Plus gives you the opportunity to set up your own fitness program, and that will help you stay on track.

There are a number of routines on the Fit Plus that seems silly, but you're actually working on your reflexes, coordination, and balance while playing these games.

We use the Wii Fit programs mostly in the winter months when the time change and weather makes it more difficult to get outside after work during the week. You will find us out on the trails or water (we have solo canoes) in the Adirondacks, winter or summer, most every weekend, and we go walking almost every evening during the summer. Keeping ourselves active by using the Wii during the winter helps out quite a bit with our snowshoeing activities.

I think we are going to get it. We may get the Active game too. I can't do exercise outside when it is cold, even walking. I have asthma and the cold starts me to coughing.

I need a lot of motivation to exercise, so this may work. DH and I have been riding the recumbent bike every day so this will be a nice addition with some treadmill mixed in.

Here's another option (future) to consider, next year Nintendo will be releasing a Cyberbike for the Wii. It is a full size bike that you pedal, which controls what you do and see on the screen.
There still isnt' a whole lot of info yet on it (price? When it will be released here...), but it does look like it will be coming soon.

Here's a link and a photo of it:

(it was a pretty slow loading page on my computer, but it did eventually get loaded)
