Wifi in rooms?

We are headed to WDW the end of July for a short trip. While we are there, I will need to book our FP's for our fall trip because we will be 60 days out. I was planning to bring my laptop to do this and was wondering how the wifi was in the rooms. We will be at CSR. I have never brought my laptop on a WDW vacation so I have no experience with this. I just want to make sure I can reserve my FP's as soon as possible. I don't want to wait until I get home. Thanks for any information you have to share.

My personal experience with wifi at Disney is that it's very, very spotty...and when you do get service, it tends to be slow. Haven't been to DW since March of last year, so maybe they've improved it since then.

Our experience over Spring Break this year was inconsistent as well. We were at the BC. We had excellent WiFi in the lounge and in the lobby but not so much in our room. If I needed to make my FPs I would do some exploring before to see where you get the strongest signal.

AT CBR a couple years ago WIFI was very low in the room, sometimes nonexistant. At POR last year it was great in the room. The lobby had the best signal at CBR. As Lisa said if its not that great in the room check around especially the lobby.

I will definitely go hang out in the lobby if the signal is stronger there. I will do anything to make sure I get the FPs I want. Thanks for the idea!

I logged on and changed fast passes all the time on several trips.

My experience is that it is pretty hit or miss. The lobbies at CBR & CSR were the only places I got good reception. I just gave up at WL and used the 4G on my phone. But this has been a few years, so here's hoping it's improved because I'm going to need it this year, too!

We were at CSR in April. Wi-Fi was fine in our room, and by "fine" I mean typical for a hotel Wi-Fi: it was sometimes slow/weak but we didn't experience any drops. CSR has the conference center, you would think they would have stronger Wi-Fi there.

I've stayed at POP, POR -Riverside, OKW, BWV, YC/BC and AKV since they've started putting free wi-fi in the rooms and have had no problems. As others have said it is typical hotel wi-fi so there might be times it gets a little slow but I always take either my little Yoga laptop or the dreaded IPAD and it works fine for changing FPs, sending e-mails and getting on the disboards.

It depends on your room location in relation to where a hub is. Sometimes we've had great reception, sometimes not so much. And peak times are slower. Last Jan. At POR I had to take my tablet and go down the walkway a few rooms at times to get reception.
Lobbies always have good wifi.

Do you have a smart phone? If so, use the MDE app and do it on your phone. This way, you can leave the laptop at home and not be so concerned about WiFi.

We never had any trouble at Coronado. We're at Caribbean Beach now and were unable to connect for several days, but tech support said several modems were offline and have since corrected it.
