I know I know, I'm going to be in Disney why am I worried about being on my computer. Unfortunately I will have to check in while away. Does anyone know if the hotels (Yacht Club) have WiFi. If so is it free access or is there a charge?

Thanks!!

Wired internet access is available in your room for ~$10 per day. Only free to DVC members staying on points.

No WiFi in WDW resorts.

The McDonald's located at Walt Disney World up the road from Blizzard Beach Water Park off of W. Buena Vista Drive has free WiFi access. I have never used it, but I probably will on our next visit since they took the free computers out of the CR and we have a car which makes it easy to get to - and it's free!

Physical Location:
1596 W Buena Vista Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL United States
32830

I have an AOL dial up account, so I connect to the phone jack in my room using a local 407 number. Local calls are free from the hotel room.
If you just want to check mail, or surf for a few minutes, this will work and its FREE but a little slow.

Thanks everyone. Since I will actually have some work to do I may just have to invest in a wireless card. Thanks for the info.

We got back today from the BC. I went down to the lobby every day to use the free wireless access. I didn't have a ton of work to do, so the wireless in the lobby worked out great.

Thank you for reporting this! Some posters have said there isn't any free WiFi at any Disney hotel. But, I thought I had read somewhere that some do have hotspots; your experience seems to confirm this.

I wonder though if these hotspots are simply unsecured (not password protected) WiFi networks that were never intended to be used by guests? Did you ever lose your connection or was it reliable?

It was pretty reliable, I think it timed out once. I turned my netbook on, opened a browser, instead of my homepage appearing a Smartspot page appeared with a connect button I clicked and voila, wireless internet access! It's amazing what a person can find out about the resort when they read the blue binder in the guest room! That's how I found out...didn't really want to pay the $10/day! It states that there is wireless in the lobby, by Stormalong Bay and in the business center. :)

Yep, we were at the Yacht Club May 2-9 and they had wireless internet in the lobby. The CM at the front desk told me this when I went to go get an ethernet cable as there wasn't one in the room. I've heard many times that the Disney hotels don't have wireless internet so it was a welcome surprise to me!:thumbsup2

Thank you again, fitgirl36 (and autumnpalm,too:thumbsup2.)

I'm going to post your comments to the BC/YC thread so that everyone will be aware of this. Maybe many are aware, but it seems whenever the topic comes up, posters claim that there's no free WiFi anywhere on Disney property. Since the CR used to have free computers in the rooms, I hadn't yet tried to find any hotspots. I'm definitely going to use it at the BC and hopefully, the CR will have it, too.

I'm glad to hear that someone else actually reads those binders, too;)!

:thanks:

Wifi is available is normally available in the lobby, bar area, and pool area at any of the Disney convention hotels. That means the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, YC/BC, Boardwalk, and Coronado.

ConcKahuna, thanks for confirming this!

Yes, the WiFi access has been at those resorts, but to my knowledge it has never been free before. Either that has changed or there was some problem so that it was possible to bypass the billing screen.

Today, I asked a BC CM (she is a greeter) on the BC/YC thread for an answer, here is her reply:

"There is definitely free internet in the lobby of the BC right now for everybody, not just vacation club members. I'll check it out at the YC since I'll be over there working on Friday and Saturday this week."
