Heading to Bay Lake Towers in a few weeks for a week stay in a standard view one bedroom. Just wondering how the WiFi connection is in the rooms. I assume that the rooms are no longer wired so it not necessary to bring the airport express.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Don't bring the airport express, there is no wired connection to hook it up to. We bought one in 10/2011 for our trip and that was the one and only time we could use it. Too bad, it worked better than the wireless.

Anway, yes, has wireless and it worked fine when we were there in December. Don't expect to watch Netflix in HD or anything, but for standard use it shoudl be ok.

Complaints, while still present, seem to have fallen off some over the last 4-6 months (or else people are just accepting poor internet :confused3).

It worked well for me on our March trip.

Hopefully WiFi at BWV will be okay for us in a couple of months!

Worked fine 2 weeks ago. But I wasn't streaming movies or anything.

We were there in November and it was horrid. There were certain times of the day where it was ok, but in the morning and evenings, every kid in the joint was on an ipod tying up bandwidth so it was a snails crawl at best.

I continue to tether VZW 4g service from my phone when I'm there until they take away my unlimited plan. The 4g speeds there were slower than at home, but they were 6 times faster than the Disney WiFi.

We were there two weeks ago. The wireless was great! I wish I had thought to do a speed test because it seemed faster than the old wired service. We used it at various times of the day and experienced no problems whatsoever. We were just checking email and some web forums, no streaming, and it was a pleasure to use. I can't remember the last time I felt that way about Internet access at WDW.

Good to hear. Hope it has improved. I took the survey upon returning home and did not give it high marks.

We had the same experience you described on our stay last October at BWV. Internet access was terrible and I described my disappointment in detail in the survey. It was a very pleasant surprise to have a completely different experience earlier this month at BLT. Let's hope it's a trend!

wireless connectivity anywhere will vary based on how many people are connected to each wireless device, the types of devices and what services they are using (email, streaming, etc). since its shared bandwidth per access point (a wireless network consists of many throughout a building), you could have a different experience every day of your trip or even at different times of the day. this is why you will see some people say wireless is good and others say its horrible. this is not a problem specific to disney.

my responses to the surveys has been to either charge for wireless (which they won't now that FP+ appears to have a smartphone component) or block high bandwidth sites like Netflix, Hulu, etc. While these would help with the bandwidth issues, they would generate a whole new set of complaints.

I used it a lot during our stay 5/13-5/18, and it was flawless and speedy. Also, it connected directly to my own home page without taking me to an annoying Disney page. Seemed faster than my broadband at home!

We stayed at BLT last July and didn't have any issues with the wifi....

We were at BLT the first week in May and had no complaints about the WiFi. We didn't try to stream anything, just general Web surfing.

Wifi in the rooms were excellent! We just stayed there last week and no complaints. I believe the speed was about 3-7mbps down.

We were there over NYE with 7 "late teens early 20's" and no one complained so I am thinking it was good! For me I had an ipad and was on in the a.m. to check email and evening no problems.

I am there now using Wifi to post. Everything is working fine.

We were there the second week in May and the WiFi was great. Hakuna Matata!
