Wifeswap Participant Suing Disney

So if the show asked them to do and say all these things that were untrue, why didn't they tell them no?? Didn't they realize how all that would look when the show aired? I wouldnt be surprised if the producers encouraged them to say things in a certain way, but if some of these things are so far from the truth (like the christmas tree!) they didn't have to go along with it.

I watched this show and the family really had some issues. I could see her having school issues from it - but that's really her parents fault.

OK, OK, so these people are lowlifes and deserve no sympathies but this is the world. My question is WTH is Disney doing even being involved in CRAP like this??? Embarrasing. As an old, retired DIS'er used to say "chip, chip, chip". Soon what will be left?:confused3

I remember watching this episode and the family was a little wacked out. The girl came across as thinking she was the most beautiful thing to walk the planet and lazy! I really find it hard to believe that she would get anything from this. I mean it is TV for goodness sake! Nothing is ever really real on a reality TV show.

And while it reads as Disney is being sued because of it, in reality it is ABC being sued but because Disney is the parent company they are also listed in the lawsuit.

Give me a break... :sad2::sad2: :confused3:confused3

They signed up for it so why now 2 years later will they make fuss about it? It's kind of weird that the daughter is filing the lawsuit and not the parents... interesting...

Holy crapola! This country is going to H-E double hockey sticks in the ol' hand basket! :lmao: :goodvibes :rotfl: :rotfl2: :sad2:

I think it's because now the daughter is 18, So she is able to file a lawsuit. When they filmed the episode she was 16.

Well, BECAUSE! People can't be expected to think with their OWN brains, come on! Yeesh, next you're going to expect people to KNOW that coffee is hot, and that a seatbelt can save their life...

If people started using their brains, a lot of lawyers would have a lot less money.
(disclaimer: I work with lawyers and know a lot of great/amazing/wonderful ones; I also know of the "other" kind, like this guy)

You mean that coffee is SUPPOSED to be hot?? No wonder why I burned myself this morning!! Where's my laywer's number, I have to sue Folgers! :rotfl2:

That is obviously why they are doing that...wonder how long they have been planning to sue? I also wonder when her birthday way??? I hope they at least waited a day after she turned 18 to file suit.

This is too funny :lmao:. Her parents being low lives wouldn't have nothing to do with her issues huh? :rolleyes1. Sounds like passing the money laundering business down isn't going to happen so she has to find some other way to keep from getting a REAL job.

So where did she come up with that figure anyway?

Hey, you got picked on in High School, how much can make you feel better?

Hmmmm, about 100 bazillion kajillion dollars?

Gimme a break.

Has anyone else ever seen the contract you sign just to be a part of a HS band or chorus to perform in the parks? I am sure these people signed a similar one at ABC.
When my son's band marched in parades we had to sign a contract giving Disney permission to use his face, voice, sound, etc. in any way shape or form in any video or recording means for INFINITY! Without our signature he would not have been able to go on property with the band. They cover themselves well. Who knows where or what advertisement tape for Disney may feature my son. LOL BTW he once even fell while marching and did a quick funny return to feet on camera so could be embarrassing if friends saw it. LOL

I don't watch the show, but seems to me the daughter should be suing her parents because they are the ones who put her in the limelight and caused her the stress not ABC/Disney. The parents made the choice for their daughter by signing a contract that was legal and binding.

It's time for the US justice system to stop allowing frivolous lawsuits. It ends up costing the taxpayer and consumer because the taxpayer pays for the judge's time & the consumer ends up paying extra for the goods they consume because the corporation has to carry so much liability insurance. Can you imagine the liability insurance Disney must have to carry?

I'm sorry, but she was made fun of because she's not a very admirable person. I hope the Disney lawyers put people on the stand that testify that the girl is exactly the way she was seen in the show.

Maybe the real reason she's mad is that she thought the show would make her a star and instead it made her look like a spoiled brat on nationwide tv. I don't think ABC picks "normal" families for that show and then encourages them to act badly, I think the show picks people who are borderline certifiable to make for good tv. Case in point: the Heene family.

I think you hit that nail right on the head!
