I was just wondering how many other women have husbands that are long-distance truck drivers. My DH is a truck driver for a moving company, he delivers and picks up furniture mainly all over the East coast. Now that summer is approching, his job has been getting busy and at this time we barely see him. We saw DH about 3 times in the past month. We have 2 DD's 2years and 9 months and I raise them while he works. I have my mom and sister's who help out alot and DH's mother who helps out to.

Hi, I had posted a thread about this a while ago, mainly because DH is considering going into trucking and I wanted to know the good & bad. Most of the responses in regards to the bad parts of the job were the fact that DH was away so much. My DH & I both work but I really want to try to stay home for a while with this baby. Our thinking is if he can get a decent job and we can live off his salary, I might be able to do it (right now I'm the breadwinner). The trade off would be we wouldn't see him as much as we do now. We also have lots of family around so I'd have lots of help if I needed it!

My dad was a truck driver (coast to cost) and yes we hardly ever saw him. My mom raised my sister and I with out any help, but had a sister near by if she did need help. Dad eventually retired from truck driving and took a job driving dump truck for a local quarry (until his death) so then he was home every night.
