Oh DVCMike, this is funny but not nearly as helpful as your previous post! My DH was relieved after I read your very sensible post about the high price of buying GFV right now (as I have been talking and reading A LOT on the subject)....and then you go and buy in! Crazy heartstrings!

I do have him on the fence though, he is pricing BLT resales and asking if I would be happy to buy more OKW pts...it's only a matter of time now, lol!

Congrats to you and the DW, and thanks for the laugh and example that emotions tend to beat out rational financial thought pretty often with DVC decisions

Congratulations, DVC Mike. I must admit, I had no interest in doing an add-on at VGF until I saw the photos. It is absolutely stunning and exactly the style I like. To quash my unnecessary desire, I keep thinking of the long walk to self-parking. Will probably hold out for the Poly.

I don't mean to unquash your unnecessary desire, but you do realize that the Villas at Grand Floridian will have its own self-parking lot that is right next to the building?

Here is a drawing showing the location of the VGF's parking lot. It is a lot closer than the self-parking lot for the Grand Floridian Hotel.

Sure, go ahead. My wife isn't thrilled about adding on at VGF. But she has a good reason: She would rather add on at Aulani.

OK, I gave in.
The Grand Floridian is my wife's favorite resort at WDW. She's always wanted to own at a DVC at the Grand Floridian and now she does.

on the "I gave in". (Not talking about the particulars of why and why not) Ie. I'm totally unsure why this wasn't a no brainer with your resources and GF being her very favourite. Yes, I do realize that I'm overstepping boundaries. Smiling. Broadly.

Good choice and congratulations. To me, there's not much more in life than looking at our loved ones dreams - even if they are contrary to ours.

OK, I gave in. I guess I subconsciously wanted to buy VGF or I wouldn't have shown my wife the photos of the model rooms.

My wife is very, very, very excited! We called our guide today and added-on 120 points at The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  (that's my wife dancing, not me)

I can't say it makes the best financial sense to own at VGF, as it is purely an emotional decision. The Grand Floridian is my wife's favorite resort at WDW. She's always wanted to own at a DVC at the Grand Floridian and now she does.

We'll use the 120 points to book a Studio at 11 months, and use our BWV/BLT points to try to book 1-BR units at 7 months.

After DW squealed with delight and I saw the huge grin on her face, I stopped thinking about the point inflation and other financial considerations that the right side of my brain kept thinking about. Oh well.

Of course, I will now have 1,271 points, which is a tad too much for us to use. I will probably be looking to sell some BCV points in a few months.

Funny when I saw VGF were for sale my first thought was of you Mrs DVC . Happy for you and glad you gave in.

We had an 8-night stay at BWV in late Oct, so I just went online and booked a night at the end of that stay at VGF.

So, we'll be spending 1 night in a Studio at VGF on Nov 3.
