Wife finally wants a digital camera

but she wants a point and shoot that automatically puts the date on the pics. Does anoyone know any digital camera that do this?

I'm not certain of my facts here, but I think most any digital cam can be set to do this. I'm pretty certain that my Fuji will, but have not taken the trouble to find out how, as I don't want to mess up an otherwise nice picture with having the date printed on it. That is not to be construed as a slam, but simply my personal preference. If I want to know when the shot was taken, I can check the exif and get it right down to the hour, minute, and second.

Thanks for the reply I didn't take it as a slam. I know Olympus cameras don't do this and I personally don't want the date on the pics which is why I don't do it on my camera, but it's a must for the wife.

Most photo processors will print the date (date it was printed, date the image was captured, etc.) or other data you request on the back of your photos. Would that satisfy your wife?

A friend of mine was complaining the other day that her in-laws have the date on all their pics, and it's usually the wrong date. I suggested that the next time she sees them she should turn that feature off on their camera. They probably wouldn't know how to change it anyway.

I'd suggest reading the reviews on one of the camera review sites to ascertain which ones you are looking at do this. If uncertain, subscribe to one of the forums and ask the question. Another option is to download the manual in pdf from the manufacturer's site, and find out that way.

just my 2 cents,

1. those dates may ruin some pictures (compositionally), but some people may prefer it.
2. if you do use that feature, make sure you get the date and time set correctly to avoid wrong dates printed on the prints.
