Wierdest Memory

my wierdest memory is of the bus route one driver took us on all around the back outside of MK ...big barbed wire fence that reminded me of a prison, not exactly what some would call "the happiest place on earth". I'm sure it's due to security but it was an odd juxtaposition and not really sure why we were back there unless he was new and got lost

My wierdest memory was in Sept. 1999. It was our first trip to WDW. On the second day, we had to leave Epcot early as it was closing at 2:00PM. The reason was because it looked like hurricane Floyd was going to hit the area.

The sky was blue with barely any clouds but, it was very windy. By the time it took to walk to the front entrance (not long) we had horizontal rain stinging our face and arms. That was the worst of the weather we experienced the whole trip. They closed all parks for the whole next day and would not allow people in the resort pool, despite the clear blue skies.

We never got a chance to ride Splash mountain during the first trip. Even after they reopened the parks, They had drained the water from the ride. Our vacation was over before they refilled it. We spent 1.5 of the 4 days on our first trip stuck in the Resort room.

The next time we decided to go back to WDW ended up being during the week of September 11, 2001. That would have to be my second wierdest memory at WDW.

I suppose my weridest memory was from my 2004 trip. We'd just stopped at the FL Vistor's Center and had gotten back on I-95. I was in the backseat, happily reading all the Disney brochures. Out of the corner of my eye, I see something black/gray flying at us. An entire tire had flown off of the bus that was in front of us. If that thing had bounced a second or so later or sooner, it would've gone through the windshield. Instead, it slammed into the license plate and then went under the car, running us a little off the road. No damage other than a permanently bent and scuffed license plate. Now, you may say that was scary (which it was), not weird. But the weird part came when we got the info. from the bus driver in case the underside of our car was damaged. It was a tour bus coming from/based about 20 miles from our hometown back in VA. Yeah, that was weird.

my wierdest memories are getting lost

first time was in EPCOT i thought the family left the park but they went to the restrooms and i went to the entrance but went past my dad and sister and they didn't notice me

other time was in M.G.M andi said i was going to follow my mum and sister to a shop to my aunt but didn't know where it was so i was walking up to ToT then remembered that they wouldn't go up there and they were getting an autograph book so i got back to the pooh shop (where i first was) and my aunt wasn't there and then i went outside and checked the map for places with autograph books and it started to rain very hard and i was outside in that looking at a map, the map tore, went into planter hollywood store and went back outside to see my dad in the sweet store opposite and then found out they were there all along right in front of me and didn't notice

Shinji-
When are you planning on going back to WDW? I want to make sure I don't pick the same week with the luck you seem to have. ;)

That was 29 years ago and no one has seen Bob since.

Oh by the way ...they never missed Bob very much

:rotfl2: This really cracked me up. Goodbye, Bob, we hardly knew you.

Uhhhm... That would be next week. :rolleyes1
I am not unlucky anymore, appearently just for the first two trips. We will begin trip number 11 tomorrow morning. :cool1:

That's weird because Floyd actually ended up coming ashore up here in SC. I remember it because the ship I was on at the time just came back from the Med a few days before landfall, and we had to put back to sea the next day because Floyd was bearing down on Charleston.

I was 6 years old and The Magic Kingdom was not even 1 (Summer of 72). My Family and I were walking under the train station and onto main street. I noticed the horse drawn trolley and the poop one of the horses left behind but an elderly women wearing sandles didn't and stepped right in it. This was one of my first memories of DisneyWorld.

On my first trip I was unprepared for the hundres of little lizards running around in the shrubs at CBR. On the first day I was walking around CBR getting some picture and checking everything out and one of these little crittes scurryed across my foot (in sandels, nonetheless), I screamed like a little girl b/c it suprised me so much, and several people actually came out of thier rooms to check it out. I was mortified!

When I was in high school my friends parents invited me to come with them on their Disney vacation. They did this a few times and it was always a thrill because with my mom we always stayed off-site but with her family we stayed in concierge at the GF! So, being a teenager with my friend's family I was nervous about being well-behaved and not causing any problems...well they had a show with cars of the future at Epcot and as I was getting out of one of the cars my finger got slammed in the door. I didn't want to disrupt our itinerary so I silently screamed to myself and tried to act like nothing was wrong. I bought a drink and held my finger against the cold cup and stayed quiet about it the entire afternoon! We got back to the room that night and half my fingernail was broken off and my finger was all sorts of purple! I tried to soak it in some ice without anyone noticing but of course they did--I got several shocked "Oh my goodness, what happened!?!?" so I told them about the car and I never lived down the fact that I walked around with my hand like that all day without telling anyone.

The wig, the turban and Cousin Bob! Too funny and definitely WEIRD! :rotfl2:

Can't stop thinking about Cousin Bob for some reason, and it made me think of....

Dr. Leo Marvin: You think he's gone? He's not gone. That's the whole point! He's never gone!
[Leo opens the door; there's Bob]
Bob Wiley: Is this some radical new therapy?
Dr. Leo Marvin: YOU SEE?

Except I guess in the case of Cousin Bob, he really WAS gone! :rotfl2:

Ok, I have so many weird memories at WDW, I'll just post them as they come to me.

When I was about 12, we went to the Land for breakfast. I ordered scrambled eggs, and they were really runny which turned my stomach, but I ate them anyway. Then I asked my grandma for a sip of her coffee and burned my mouth. We left the Land, can't remember exactly where we were headed, but we were in front of the Odyssey restaurant when I started puking! People who were headed for Odyssey for breakfast quickly changed their minds and turned and walked away. A CM took us to First Aid, and then I was transported behind-the-scenes back to the Contemporary. It was very strange to see WDW from that view! Once back at the hotel, I wanted some chicken soup, but the Contemporary didn't have any. They searched and searched and finally found it. They sent it to the room along with some hot tea - all free of charge! I will never forget any of that!

On another trip, in Oct. 2002, when my older dd's were 3 and 16 mos, we were going to leave MK when DH decided why don't we go on POC one more time before leaving the park. So we headed that way. As we were walking, my eyes met with this man's as his group was walking past us. I thought, "How do I know that guy?" I turned around to look at him again and realized it was Murray Cook (the red Wiggle), Greg Page (the yellow Wiggle) and Jeff Fatt (the purple Wiggle) all in street clothes on a tour. DH convinced me to chase them down and ask for a picture & autograph. It was really hot, and we were sweaty and tired, and the kids were grumpy by this time. I asked my oldest if she wanted to see Greg (her favorite), and she excitedly said YES! We caught up with them, and they were so gracious and kind. Greg offered to hold the baby, but she started screaming. Then my oldest wouldn't get out of the stroller, and I felt like such a fool for asking them for a picture! My dd's reason for not getting out of the stroller? "I was embarrassed because I love Greg." Here is the pic which just makes me :rotfl2: You've got to love the face on my then 3-yr-old!

The whole "Wiggles sighting" was very weird! Even my DH still talks about it!

OK it has been a few years since I posted this story. It will definately fit into the Weird catagory.

Cousin Bob

Many years ago in 74 my family was vacationing in Florida at my uncles in Tampa. My cousin was married to Bob and he was from what I had heard quite a character. The kind of guy you would watch while he pumped your gas but definitely not allow to look under your hood.
Him and I hit it off fine both of us liked British sports cars.

The 5th or 6th day there we went to MK. Bob was not having fun just one of those people that cant relax.

From what I remember we were having Ice cream and I sat with Bob and my cousin at the same small table.
He finished his cone quickly looked at
his wife then got up and said I'm leaving . No one said anything apparently Bob did this a lot. He reached over the table and shook my hand with the strangest smile I had ever seen...Oh thats right Bob never smiled.

I have NO idea what a wiggle is.

I'm sorry! I guess I should have explained that! :rotfl:

The Wiggles are preschool entertainers. They have a show on Playhouse Disney and perform concerts around the world. They are the wealthiest entertainers in Australia. You either love 'em or hate 'em. My family loves 'em!

These are all hilarious!

I'd have to say my odd memory took place at DL in 1998. It was my grad night, and my friends Cheryl, Becky, Jennifer, and I were posing with Pluto for our sovenier photo.

Pluto groped me. He would be missing some teeth today if Cheryl hadn't dragged me out of there.

You should see the look on my face in the photo. See, he did it right as the guy pressed the button. It's priceless!

My wierdest memory would be 18 years ago at DL when I watched a mob of little kids attacking Mickey Mouse!!! One had him by the nose and was pulling down while another was pulling him backwards. I don't think he had a handler back then.
The saddest part is that the parents were standing off to the side laughing.
